10 Worst games of 2014

It’s already 2015 and we are looking forward to a great year for gaming. Even though 2014 wasn’t a bad year for the gamers, there were still a few games which were hugely anticipated but ended up as major let downs. Some games were actually supposed to be revolutionary for using the next gen engines but were lacking a good storyline and ultimately failed to win the heart of the gamers. So here we are today, with the top 10 disappointing games of 2014.

#10 The Amazing Spiderman 2

What do you imagine when you think of Spiderman? Jumping off rooftops and swinging all across the city. Also fighting villains like Rhino and Octopus. All this was promised by the developers but they failed to deliver it.

“The Amazing Spider Man 2” is a game which is loosely based on the movies of the same title. The predecessor was better infact because this game had nothing new to offer and also the game’s graphics were extremely bad and so was the voice acting along with a terrible plot.

#9 Driveclub

With Sony releasing a racing game that too exclusively for PS4, it sounded like this will be the best racing game ever. But soon upon it’s release, the game proved otherwise. “Driveclub” didn’t have anything new to offer to the gamers. And the game hardly had some 50 cars with limited color variations.

And also the huge let down was the intial release server problems. Just after few days of its release, the game started facing connectivity issues which restricted the players to log in to the game for many days. For all the above reason, Driveclub is one of the disppointing games of the year.

#8 The Crew

After seeing the trailer of “The Crew”, everyone was enthralled by seeing the level of detailing shown in the trailer. And it was a bliss for the car lovers to see all parts of engine join together and form the car.

But the game was a huge disappointment. The game’s opponent AI was frustrating and so were the lengthy races. And not to forget the bugs along with the connectivity issues. All this made the players hate “The Crew” and made it one of the worst games of 2014.

#7 Destiny

Rather than releasing it at once, the developers Bungie could have released “Destiny” as a series of Downloadable content games. I’m saying this becasue since the release of the game, the studio has been continously releasing DLCs to fix the game errors.

One after another, the game have been receiving DLC and patches to improve the gameplay. And the problems started soon after it’s release only which didn’t allow the players to sign in. For solving this problem, the studio took a week. And later on, issues were seen on the PS4 version also. No wonder this game is on our list despite attaining commercial success.

#6 Assassin\'s Creed: Unity

“Assassin’s Creed: Untiy” was the biggest project of the series which also turned out to be the biggest disappointment of the series. After the release of the game’s trailer and the announcment that the game will be released for the next gen systems, the game gained much hype as well as anticipation.

But soon after the release of the game, it was noted that the game was full of bugs. The game also had lagging problems, and for the players who wanted to play the game on PC, the system requirements were so high that they thought buying a next gen console would be cheaper.

#5 Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark

Without any hesitation, anyone can agree to the point that this is the worst Transformers game EVER! The game didn’t even have the core element of the series which is the proper “transformation”.

The graphics of the game were terrible, even the Windows 98 games would have better graphics than this game. The machine to vehicle transformation was pathetic. In just a second Optimus turns into some vehicle which you don’t even recognise. And all this is topped with a really bad story. So it’s pretty much understandable why this game is on our list.

#4 Watch Dogs

Watch Dogs was one of the early games which promised to feature next gen graphics and provide a whole new experience of gameplay. With all this said, the game was hyped much and was also hugely anticipated.

But the game turned out to be a big disappointment. The graphics were not as good as promised. The gameplay was similar to that of Sleeping Dogs and Grand Theft Auto. The only different thing was the “hacking” element. All these points made the game fall.

#3 Ryse: Son of Rome

“Ryse: Son of Rome” was one of the biggest projects last year and also one of the biggest game projects undertook by the Microsoft studios. The game did justice to the next gen gaming engines but failed because of the weak storyline.

The game was exclusive to the Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. The game had really good graphics and amazing voice acting, but the weak storyline and the repetitive gameplay proved to be the cause for the downfall of the game. Also, the game’s gameplay was supposed to be hack n slash but it was not even near to that genre.

#2 Sonic Boom Rise of the Lyric

2006’s Sonic The Hedgedog is no more the worst Sonic game. Now welcome 2014’s one of the worst and defintitely the worst Sonic game ever, “Sonic Boom Rise of the Lyric”. With this game, the Sonic series marked its entry on the next gen consoles, but failed terribly to impress even 2% of the gamers.

The game came along with bugs, bad frame rate and inconsistent texture. And on top of this, the game even failed to give a good gameplay. With all the above factors combined, the game was frustrating to even play.

#1 Rambo

This is undoubtedly the worst game of the decade. We remember Sylvester Stallone for his iconic and macho look of the “Rambo” but the game had nothing iconic in it. The game was released in early 2014 developed by Teyon studios.

Everything in the game was wrong. The dialogoues were cheesy, the graphics looked dated and the gameplay was pathetic. I’m sure if Stallone saw himself in the game, he would not be too impressed. And thus, this is undoubtedly, the worst game to come in 2014.
