There has a to be a suspense along with a satisfying story to make the player engrossed in the game. So here are the top 8 underrated horror games.

#1 Rise Of Nightmares

This game was the first horror game to be released on the Xbox’s Kinect Platform. We know that Xbox is seldom criticised for it’s Kinect but this game was actually fun to play, once you get acquainted with the moves.

The storyline is simple. You and your wife go on a vacation, your wife disappears and you have to kill hundreds of undead zombie to get your wife back. You twist your torso to look arounds, put a foot forward in order to walk and during combat depending on your weapon you have to move your arms accordingly. Once you understand how the game works, you will enjoy playing it.

#2 Lucius

“Lucius” can be regarded as one of the most gruesome and humorous games. The game can ne defined as a mixture of the “Hitman” and “The Omen”. The game puts you in the shoes of a 6 year old boy Lucius, who on his 6th birthday finds out that he is the son of Devil.

Unlike Hitman man, this game doesn’t provide much variety in killing your target, but what it does provide is very good story along with some supernatural powers like telekinesis and mind control. The game’s worth a shot if you like the Horror genre.

#3 Clock Tower

This one of the oldest PS horror games and I love this game. The reason why I love this game is that it makes the complete use of it’s dated visuals and the spooky music to create a terryifying enviornment.

In the game, you play as 5 different playablr characters who are on the run from a serial killer called Scissorman who is a man wearing a black cloak and kills his victims with a giant pair of scissors. The game is very challenging because when you face the killer, you don’t have any weapon on you. You will have to save yourself by outrunning by throwing something at him.

#4 The Blair Witch Trilogy

I dont presume that many people have even ever heard about this game. The game was based on the movie of the same name, for which the movie gained much success both critically and also commercially.

The trilogy takes place in three different times. The first one was about Elspeth Holiday, who goes on investigating a case invilving a man named Rustin who killed some children under the influence of something supernatural. The second game was based on a civil war officer who is recued from death. And the last one is on Kelly Edward , and how she actually became the Blair Witch.

#5 Echo Night Beyond

This was one of the earliest games createdby the makers of The Dark Souls,From Softwares. The game was originally released for PS2, and as played from First person perspective. The game is a sci-fi horror game, where you playas man who was on his way to his honeymoon at the moon and after your vessel crashes you have to find your wife while avoiding a decent amount of ghosts.

The gameplay is very good. You have to fight plenty of challenging ghosts and the puzzles will actually turn your mind left and right. In my opinion, give this game a try. You will like it very much.

#6 Siren: Blood Curse

This PS3 game is the scariest game ever among all the games which Ive played till date. The game didnt have advertising like Resident Evil series or the Dead Space, but it doesnt lack anything in its content.

You start the game by witnessing a TV crew shooting a footage in a Japanese village, where they witness a disturbing ritual being carried out which in turn unleashescalled Shibito (Dead man) and a siren plays right after the event. It also turns the rain into blood. The gameplay is smooth but very scary and fun to play. The environment created is very scary and you actually get goosebumps. If you havent, please try this game. It will send chills down your spine.

#7 Scratches

This good old fashioned game comes along with a top notch story and the sneaky gameplay is like a cherry on top on a cake. And the game’s biggest plus points are: its’easy to run, it’s not very big and it’s very cheap.

The game’s visual’s aren’t that good but what makes the game gripping is it’s top class sound sound design and if you don’t get scared with that, then you’ve already become a zombie. The only thing that makes me sad is that the game has not been valued, as you can get it in less than $10 in Steam.

#8 Cursed Mountain

This game was released when it was thought that PC and consoles were meant for children. But this game is not for children at all. The game is about a mountain climber who goes on a journey to find his lost brother. His journey takes him through the Himalayas, and tells about th Buddisth and Tibetian mythology.

The gameplay comes along with a few bugs, but the story, the atmosphere and the sheer chills keeps you gripped to the game and makes you play the game for hours. The game serves as an example of how small time developers can also create a good and satisfying game.
