If there isn’t a protagonist, there’s nothing in the game to play. Every story needs a main hero to take the story forward. And it is required that the main character should reflect the emotions properly which being seen to the players. He should be strong, attractive, charming, and most of all, he should appeal to the audience. He should have a personality as strong as the antagonist of the game. So here we are, with the top 10 heroes of the video game world.

#10 Super Mario

There’s no other character with whom we could begin our list with. We have been playing it since our childhood and we can never get bored of him. Our Mario, who sets out on a quest to rescue his damsel in distress. Mario is cute, lovely and he can jump.

Mario was released on Gameboy and Nintendo platforms. And since then, the character has just grown and grown. Games starring Mario have sold 262 million copies – making it the most successful video game franchise in history. The future of video gaming isn’t a certain thing, but you can guarantee that it’s going to involve Mario in one way or another.

#9 Ezio Auditore

Ezio Audiotre is the main protagonist of the Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood and Revelations. He is the most successful assassin in the complete series and was also much praised by the critics.

Ezio came into the brotherhood of Assassins to avenge the death of his father and brothers, who were wrongly convicted of treason. By completing his tasks, he rises to the ranks of Altair. The character devlopment of Ezio was terrific and was critically prasied. Thus it lead the developers Ubisoft to continue the Ezio series. With handsome looks and killing streaks, he grabs his spot on our list.

#8 Sam Fisher

Sam Fisher is the secret agent and an assassin of the NSA. He’s lethal, dangerous and the kind of a man with whom you don’t want to mess. He’s the protagonist of the Tom Clancy’s “Splinter Cell” series.

Anyone apart from Solid Snake who can describe what tactical espionage is, then that person is Sam Fisher. And you get the idea of not messing with him once you’ve played “Splinter Cell: Conviction”. He has all the skills which makes him one of the top protagonist of all time.

#7 Solid Snake

For those who love the Metal Gear Solid, you know that Solid Snake deserves to be on this list. Creator Hideo Kojima’s epic military espionage game took the level of gaming into a new height which featured a thought provoking and modern warfare gameplay for adults.

“Solid Snake” perfectlt describes what “tactical espionage is. The image of Solid Snake sneaking around and using his tactical and weapons skills to surprise enemies is the main vision one conjures up when thinking about Metal Gear Solid gameplay.

#6 Prince

The protgaonist of the “Prince of Perisa” series, the Prince’s name was not revealed any where. He remained without a name, but only with the title, “Prince”. Prince of Persia was a Windows 98 game, which received it’s reboot in 2003.

The Ubisoft studios came up with an idea, The sands of time, which turned out to be the centre of attraction of the game. With the Prince’s flexible movements, wall running ability and deadly killing stroke, he becomes one of the top heroes of all time.

NOTE: The “Prince” from the game and the “Prince” from the movie of the same name as the game have nothing in common. If you’ve played the game, then you won’t like the movie.

When the Xbox was launched in the late 2001, developers Microsoft was in the need of a game exclusive for the Xbox and also a copyright hero for the game. And then came the “Halo” series, with the birth of the Master Chief.

Master Chief, became the unofficial mascot for Microsoft’s new gaming console. The continued success of the Xbox 360 and Xbox One can be at least partially credited to the Master Chief, which Microsoft has never forgotten.

#4 Nathan Drake

If there was no Drake, there wouldn’t have been the “Uncharted” series. Since the first release of the game, the main character has been highly praised for his design, looks and his acting.

Nathan Drake is the protagonist of the “Uncharted” game series, who has killer looks and instincts. With the development of the game, the creators Naughty Dogs have also kept in mind that the age can’t be a constant factor. That is why in the next installment of the game, Drake looks a bit aged. But it doesn’t affect his abilities or skills. He is still deadly.

Tricked by Ares, Kratos murdered his own family. And as a sign of his sins, his daughter’s and wife’s ashes gets adhered to his body by giving him the title of “Ghost of Sparta”. After all this, Kratos sets out on only a single agenda, Revenge. And what follows is a series of events of the “God of War”.

Without any doubt, Batman stands apart from everyone else. Bruce Wayne/ Batman tops the list of the heroes of all time. And why shouldn’t he be? For the facts, he’s one of the genuine superheroes who doesn’t have any super powers and is also not an alien. He’s just a rich guy who received proper training for his mental and physical abilities, and wears the mask as a persona to protect the loved ones.

The Arkham series reinvented the image of Batman. With a free flowing gameplay and the Joker, the game acheived the heights which no other superhero game could ever. For all the above reasons, Batman becomes the best video game hero of all time.
