PS3 was released on early 2007. Since then, it has been one of the most favourite gaming console for everyone around the globe. Initially, the sales of PS3 were more than that of Xbox 360 which was released my Microsoft. PS3 offered better graphic quality, along with better detailing. The frame rate were increased in PS3 which offered better clarity.With all these features in a single console, PS3 eventually became people’s choice for gaming consoles. Whatever games that were released in other platforms, were released on PS3 too. But some of the games which were developed by Sony were made exclusive to PS3. We now take a look on top 10 best selling games on PS3:

#1 Gran Turismo 5

Gran Truismo 5 commonly abbreviated as GT5 is the fifth installment in the Gran Turismo series. It is a race simulating game where in the player gets ride different cars in different arenas. It was the first game to make entry in online racing genre and adding upto 16 players in online multiplayer gaming. Over 1,000 cars, 26 different locations, and 71 different tracks are available in the game.

GT5 is the highest selling PS3 game worldwide. The game has sold over 10.66 million copies. The game was received well by audience as well as the critics. Reviewing site Gamspot has given the game a score 8 out of 10 and IGN gave it 8.5 on 10.

#2 The Last of Us

Honestly, when I saw the trailer of “The Last of Us’ for the first time, I seriously thought that I was watching the trailer of a great movie. The amount of detailing shown in the game was extraordinary at the time of release. And for the first time, actress Ellen Page was featured in any game which was a sight for sore eyes.

The game was made exclusively for PS3 and later on it was also released for PS4. Currently it is regarded as the second most bought game in PS3. It has sold over 6 million copies. As far as the reviews are considered, “The Last of Us” is regarded as one of the most highly rated game and one of the most greatest games ever made.

#3 MGS 4: Guns of the Patriot

Metal gear Solid 4 commonly abbreviated as MGS4, is a direct sequel to MGS and MGS 2 and acts as the concluding part for the Patriots and Snakes. Soon upon its release, the game was received with widespread universal acclaim. The audience and the critics both loved the story and the gameplay which was offered.

The game was called “Flawless’ by the gaming reviewing site Gamespot. The third person stealth shooter game has been declared as the 3rd most sold video game in PS3 as a result of more than 5.8 million copies getting sold.

#4 God of War 3

If we’re talking about PS, then how can we forget about God of War? Originally released in PS2, God of War made it’s debut on PS3 with God of War 3. The visceral gameplay was the centre of attraction for the fans. The fluent gameplay system and the hack and slash combos along with the brutal kills of ancient Greek Gods were the most important elements of the game.

A critical and commercial success, God of War III was described as "simply one of the best games of all time" by PSM3 magazine. The best-selling game in the God of War series, it sold nearly 5.2 million copies worldwide by June 2012.

#5 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty is one of the most popular series across the globe. The first person shooter game is a source of stress reliever and a great source of entertainment as well. Modern Warfare 2 is a direct sequel to Modern Warfare. Soon upon its release, the game met with widespread accalim with Metacritic giving the game a score of 94% of positive approval. Only within 24 hours of release, the game sold approximately 4.7 million copies in North America and the United Kingdom.

#6 Uncharted 3: Drake\'s Deception

Uncharted is an exclusive game just for PlayStation. The game is considered as one of the best series of all time. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is the third installment in the Nathan Drake’s series. The game was released for the PlayStation 3 on November 1, 2011.

It received critical acclaim, receiving numerous "Game of the Year" awards. It was the second most successful installment of the series after Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. As of today, the game has sold over 4 million copies.

#7 Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is one of my personal favourite games of all time. The game had everything that an adventure-action gaming fan can ever think of. The story was gripping and the gameplay was just, let’s say AWESOME. Because of the success of Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3 gained much hype. The reviews of the game were positive everywhere. The critics praised the graphic quality, the gameplay and the story line of the game. The game has earned numerous “Game of the Year” titles and has sold over 3.8 million copies.

#8 Call of Duty: Black Ops

After CoD: Modern Warfare 2, the second CoD game to enter this countdown is Call of Duty: Black Ops. Taking us to the era of Russian espionage, the game was universally appreciated by the critics and the players. With a strong voice acting crew, the game performed extremely well in the market.

The critics praised the storyline and the new mechanics used in the game. Within 24 hours of going on sale, the game had sold more than 5.6 million copies, 4.2 million in the U.S. and 1.4 million in the UK, breaking the record set by its predecessor Modern Warfare 2 by some 2.3 million copies.

#9 GTA 4

GTA 4, which was released on April 2008 is next on our list of the top 10 selling games on PS3. The GTA series made its debut on PS3 platform with GTA 4. After the game was made official in 2006, it was highly anticipated.

Grand Theft Auto IV broke industry sales records and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history at the time, earning US $310 million in its first day and US $500 million in its first week. The game was well received by the critics also who praised the open world gameplay and the main protagonist’s character development.

#10 Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain is a PS exclusive game which was first released on PS3 in 2010. It is a neo noir thriller game which features 4 main protagonists who are trying to track down a serial killer who uses heavy rain as a source to drown his victims.

The game was both a commercial and critical success. The critics emphasized mainly on the environment and the character development. They also praised the way the suspense was kept. As of today, the game has sold over 2 million. Currently, a live film adaption of the game is on-going.
