Weapons are central to the gaming experience and are often a topic of serious debate. While some weapons cause devastating damage, other creations have mesmerized us with just the concept itself. Separating some of these all-time favorite heroes from their all-time favorite weapons is just unthinkable. These weapons might not be from the best games of all time, but these are unique, creative and can really make the gaming experience engaging. Following are the Top 10 Video Game Weapons created by genius artists. This list will definitely take us back on a journey through the last two decades of Video Game creations. Speaking of which, I would like to make an honorary mention of the deathly ‘Chain’ from the classic Road Rash. Never mind the 11th best, here is the Top 10 list of best weapons ever created:
#10 The Dub-step Gun: Saints Row V
Out of all the coolest and wackiest weapons in the Saints Row franchise, be it the ‘Dildo Bat’ or the ‘Rectifier’ or any one of the other creatively designed weapons,, nothing gets past this ultimate weapon which makes everyone break out into dance. [Don’t forget to ‘Drop the Bass’]

This weapon’s name is literally its description. It fires bullets and shoots dub-step beats. It’s a Mean Music Machine, highly recommended for all gaming enthusiasts to tune into the groove.
Need to rave and kill people at the same time?
You’re gonna love this.
#9 Head Whip: Earthworm Jim Series
Picture this: You are an earthworm controlling a humanoid alien space suit and one of your main weapons, aside from your little blasting gun, is your own head as a whip. Actually, isn’t that your own body? Since the humanoid suit is being controlled by Earthworm Jim, and the head whip (which is Earthworm Jim) is being controlled by the suit, it’s all a bit confusing and rather fascinating.
The Head Whip qualifies in this list of top 10, as the wackiest and most useful weapon in gaming history.
#8 Chozo Power Suit: Metroid Series
Although this technically isn’t a weapon, but sometimes we all have to agree that the suit makes the man. In the Metaroid series, the Chozo Suit is quite a kick-ass armor to have. The utility of this does not end there and we had to include this because of its most unique sci-fi features starting with its own built in weapons. But not that it only fires, the DNA fused suit gives you the ability to compress into a rolling ball and run so fast that you can break through walls and jump endlessly.
It’s sure to make alien parasites and space pirates alike, cower in fear.
#7 The Paddle-saw: Dead Rising 2
“Let’s start paddling!”
The flagship weapon of the entire arsenal of the Dead Rising series, this weapon is put together with two chainsaws duct-taped on the edges of a kayak paddle for some zombie mutilating fun.
Never mind any physics questions like how a plastic paddle and some duct tape can hold up two chainsaws or the question of how the second came about.
Pure fun lies in heating up the motors and paddling your way through an endless army of mindless zombies.
#6 The Spiny Shell: Mario Kart Series
The Spiny Shell also known as the Blue Shell, this deadly turtle house can really mess up your day. With just a push of the button, this thing flies directly to the racer that’s in first place and whips them out in a beautiful explosion. It also appears in the latest Super Mario Smash Bros on the Wii u and VDS. Next time you are out on the track be careful, if you’re too far ahead in lead, the flying spiney shell will hunt you down.
#5 Razor Rimmed Hat: \'Mortal Kombat\'
Inspired and re-introduced from the James Bond series, this deathly accessory belongs to the shaolin monk, Kung Lao, who skillfully throws his hat like a circular saw, causing painful fatality finishers. Surprising, as it is, it is tough enough to cut through and through flesh, bone, everything. “You don’t want to end up on the edge of this thing for sure.”
The hat has the ability to teleport back to Kung Lao, it has boomerang like, and ricochet abilities all whilst holding a rabbit inside of it. Wonder what other tricks the Shaolin Monk would have in stock for us, and this time ‘up his sleeves’.
#4 The Gravity Gun: Half-life 2
While the ‘Portal Gun’ can’t really kill anyone unless of course you’re really creative; the gravity gun re-defines physics and can pretty much use anything and in the surroundings as ammo. What it does is it attracts objects like wooden crates and killer buzz saw plates which happen to be conveniently lying around and projects it straight into the victim. Yes, ‘Killer Buzz Saw Plates!’ isn’t that convenient. And with an eventual upgrade that can grab and hurl people at people, this is definitely a hit formula for double K.O impact. Gravity is one destructive machine.
#3 Magnum: Resident Evil
The tables turn directions when Barry hands over the super powerful ‘Magnum’. This powerful handgun is a lifesaver in the first part of Resident Evil. With its powerful blast and mighty recoil, it’s a good time to send some hapless zombies into the netherworld. With just a single shot, its great fun to watch pulpified zombie heads splatter, draining spider guts and ugly flying mutant dogs.
Although the gun’s novelty has significantly worn off in the later versions of the games, it still remains as a memorable moment in the series when Barry hands over the gun. Undoubtedly, this was the best weapon from the series.
#2 Blades of Chaos: God of War
These Olympian forged deity killing ‘Blades of Chaos’ are all you need for a war-monging vengeance spree. These feisty friends slash and kill anything in the way and can also double up as grappling hooks, flinging foes around and aiding Kratos, the Spartan demi god in his adventures to seek vengeance.
Ghost Rider and other games have imitated the ‘Blades of Chaos’ but have not been able to achieve the same divine devastation.
The God of War series consequently checks the effectiveness of the blades but still today it stands as a treat, charging into waves of Cyclopes, Gorgons and scheming Gods and letting them meet with the blades.
#1 The BFG (Big Effin Gun): Doom
If you’ve played Doom, you well know what the BFG stands for and why it reigns supreme over all other video game weapons ever created. This blast from the past piece of weaponry can disintegrate archedemons and cyberdemons from any generation. The BFG is the ultimate weapon, perfect for frying up the demons of Deimos and Phobos in burning hell style. But the makers were quite miserly in giving out ammo to reload this monster.
The BFG has been adapted and reintroduced in many other FPS games including ‘Quake 2’ and ‘Hell on Earth’. In the Doom motion picture it was referred to as the ‘Bio Force Gun’.
Beware! Keep out.
