New map: Natlan
The brand new area of Natlan will be unveiled once the Genshin Impact 5.0 update goes live. Previews for the map were showcased in the livestream, including the areas inhabited by the various tribes of Natlan.
Here are some of the notable areas that were revealed in the Genshin Impact 5.0 livestream:
This region belongs to the Children of Echoes tribe, to which Kachina belongs. This tribe lives in Harmony with the Tepetlisaurs and is well known for their mining skills.
This region is inhabited by the citizens belonging to the People of the Springs tribe. Thier companion Saurians are the Koholasaurs, and their region serves as an excellent vacation spot. This area is also known for its hot springs.
Members of the Scions of the Canopy tribe dwell in this region, in harmony with the Yumkasaurs. This area has a lot of challenging terrain, which players might find exciting to explore.
New exploration mechanics
As hinted before, Natlan will unveil a completely new exploration mechanism where players will be able to transform into Saurians to move across the map. Different types of Saurians have different exploration abilities, and players will be able to access specific exploration mechanisms depending on the Saurian they transform into.
For example, the Koholasaurus can move very fast in water, the Tepetlisaurus can burrow and move underground, and the Yumkasaurus can use grappling hooks to quickly cover large distances.
New bosses
The Genshin Impact 5.0 livestream shared details about new enemies that players will encounter on their journey across Natlan. The new map will play host to two new bosses: the Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King, and the Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant.
Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King - This boss is an ancient Yumkasaur king and can be found underground. Players will have to come up with different strategies to beat this boss.
Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant - This Boss was revealed briefly in the Natlan Saurian Wanderings teaser as the large flying Saurian at the end. This flying Qucusaur is slightly different from other Saurians and lives by himself.
Players can challenge these new bosses once the Genshin Impact 5.0 Natlan update is live.

System and QOL optimizations
Several QOL updates have been lined up for the 5.0 release. Some of these include optimizations that the playerbase had been requesting for a very long time. These are the following system and QOL updates as revealed in the Genshin Impact 5.0 livestream:
1) World Level 9 unlocked
After the release of version 5.0, players will be able to upgrade their World Levels to Level 9 after they have reached Adventure Rank 58. After increasing the World Level to Level 9, the levels of normal, elite, and boss enemies will increase by 10 levels. This will make overworld combat more challenging and fun for endgame players.
2) Fate Point system optimized
After the release of Genshin Impact version 5.0, the Fate Point system on the Weapon Event Wish will undergo a drastic change. As opposed to the previous 2 Fate Points required to guarantee the Event weapon, the necessary Fate Points have now been reduced to 1.
This means that if you lose 50/50 on the Weapon Event Wish banner once, the next 5-star weapon you get will be guaranteed to be the Event 5-star weapon. However, do keep in mind that Fate Points do not carry over to the next Event Wish, and have to be utilized in the current banner itself.
3) "Capturing Radiance" mechanic introduced
A new system called Capturing Radiance will be implemented after the launch of the 5.0 update. As showcased in the Genshin Impact 5.0 livestream, this mechanic increases the chances of getting the featured character on a banner even when you don't have the character guaranteed.
This mechanic can be utilized only on Character Wishes, and not on Weapon Event Wishes or Standard Wishes.
4) Customised artifact crafting function added
After the launch of the 5.0 update, players will now be able to choose their main stats and sub-stats for artifacts by using a new object called 'Sanctifying Elixir' in combination with a new gadget known as Artifact Transmuter. You can choose the Main Affix of your artifact along with two Minor Affixes. This will be extremely helpful in crafting artifacts with double Crit stats.
5) Stellar Reunion Rewards increased
In addition to the original Stellar Reunion rewards that returning players could obtain, 10 more Intertwined Fates will now be given out as well.
6) Regional Specialties tracking function added
After the launch of the version 5.0 update, players will be able to directly navigate to any area's local specialties. For example, if you're trying to level up a certain character and they need Lakelight Lily as their regional specialty ascension materials, you can now directly click on 'Go to collect' from the character's page. Doing this will automatically navigate to the available regional specialties on the map.
7) Enemy drop rates increased
Certain enemies will now drop more materials once they have been defeated. This will help in making character farming and building a lot easier and faster. Enemies who will get a boost to their drop rates include:
- Specters
- Abyss Mages
- Nobushi and Kairagi
- Ruin Guards, Ruin Hunters, and Ruin Graders
8) Quick Start feature for Archon Quests added
Starting from Genshin Impact version 5.0, players can now use the Quick Start feature to quickly start playing the Archon Quests even if they have not completed all the previous Archon Quests.
The requirements for accessing this feature include:
- Players must have reached Adventure Rank 28
- Players must have completed the Liyue Archon Quests.
