In the Genshin Impact 5.0 trailer, there are bits and pieces of information on the region's lore and the "previous Pyro Archon." It was revealed, Natlan was invaded by the Abyss in the past, and the Pyro Archon of that time had joined forces with the various tribes of the nation to repel this calamity. It is mentioned in the trailer that the conflict between the two factions goes back in history.

This information leads one to believe that the incident that is being mentioned here may have occurred during the cataclysm from five centuries ago. Although the previous Pyro Archon emerged victorious after a fierce battle, the consequences of the invasion stayed with the nation for generations.
