Genshin Impact 5.3 livestream summary: New characters, banners schedule, codes, release date, and more

The Genshin Impact 5.3 livestream has concluded, and the developers revealed a ton of content that Travelers can look forward to in the upcoming update, which will go live on January 1, 2025. This includes the banners, new characters, events, rewards, and some story content. In addition, the officials shared three new redemption codes that are worth 300 Primogems and other in-game rewards.

New characters

The Special Program finally showcased all three new characters in version 5.3. During the livestream, the developers revealed Mavuika, Citlali, and Lan Yan's gameplay style and other details. The Pyro Archon is a 5-star unit and a Claymore user, while Citlali is a 5-star Cryo unit that uses a Catalyst. Lan Yan is the only new 4-star, and she uses a Catalyst as well.

Version 5.3 release date and character banner schedule

Version 5.3 will be released on January 1, 2025, and will last until February 12, 2025. Here is the phase-wise banner schedule for the upcoming update:

Phase I (January 1, 2025 - January 21, 2025)

Mavuika (5-star Pyro)
Citlali (5-star Cryo)

Phase II (January 21, 2025 - February 11, 2025)

Arlecchino (5-star Pyro)
Clorinde (5-star Electro)
Lan Yan (4-star Anemo)

Both Mavuika and Citlali will debut in the first half of version 5.3. Meanwhile, Lan Yan will debut in the second phase. This half will also feature Arlecchino and Clorinde's long-awaited rerun banners.

New weapons

Version 5.3 will also release two new weapons — A Thousand Blazing Suns and Starcaller's Watch. The former is a 5-star Claymore and Mavuika's signature weapon. Meanwhile, Starcaller's Watch is a 5-star Catalyst and is Citlali's signature weapon. Both weapons will be available in the first phase banner.

Chronicled Wish

The Chronicled Wish banner is finally returning, and will feature characters from Liyue, including Shenhe and Ganyu. There will be a banner for the weapons as well.

Pyro Traveler

The developers also finally revealed the Pyro Traveler. Players can unlock the Pyro element during the final acts of Natlan's Archon Quest.

Natlan Archon Quest Act V and reward

Genshin Impact 5.3 will release the final Act in Natlan's Archon Quest, which will also conclude the Pyro nation's main storyline. Furthermore, Travelers can get 500 Primogems for completing Act V within the specified duration.

New Story Quests

Both Mavuika and Citlali will also get new Story Quests. Completing them within the specified duration, Travelers can obtain additional rewards, including Primogems and character ascension materials.

New world boss - Wayward Hermetic Spiritspeaker

Version 5.3 will release a new world boss called the Wayward Hermetic Spiritspeaker. Travelers can challenge her to obtain character ascension materials for Citlali.

New weekly boss

Version 5.3 will release another boss called the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire that will drop talent level-up materials for characters.

Events

Players can look forward to a ton of exciting new events in version 5.3. Here's a list of them:

Springtime Charms is the new Lantern Rite festival and the flagship event of version 5.3. The rest are mini-events.

During the Lantern Rite event, Travelers can also pick a 4-star character from Liyue for free as a reward. This includes the new 4-star unit, Lan Yan.

New skins

Hu Tao and Xiangling are set to get new outfits in Genshin Impact 5.3. The latter's skin will be available for free as a reward and can be obtained by participating in the Springtime Charms Lanter Rite event. Meanwhile, Hu Tao's skin will be a paid item.

Login and mail rewards

Travelers can log in to the game in Genshin Impact 5.3 to obtain up to 10 Intertwined Fates and 1600 Primogems.

New Xbox glider

The Xbox glider, Wings of Fate's Course Intertwined, will be given away to all the players once Genshin Impact 5.3 is live.

Permanent rhythm game mode

The Genshin Impact 5.3 update will introduce a new permanent game mode called Repertoire of Myriad Melodies. It is a rhythm game, and players can play different soundtracks from all the nations.

The Stellar Moments Vol 5 announced

Volume V of The Stellar Moments was also revealed in the livestream. It will feature the theme songs for Xianyun, Kinich, and Sigewinne.

System optimizations

Genshin Impact 5.3 will introduce the following QoL updates:

Training Guide optimized.
Artifact inventory limit increased.
The world boss will respawn right away after the challenge.
Natlan-style Realm Layout in Serenitea Pot.
Cross Co-Op mode for World Levels 8 and 9.

Echo cosmetic

Ganyu and Kazuha will get new echo cosmetics in the Genshin Impact 5.3 update.

Character silhouette

A new web event featuring Mavuika has begun, and Travelers can get up to 240 Primogems by participating in it. The "Stand With Mavuika" event will be available until January 8, 2025.
