Genshin Impact Aphid Treasure Trace event guide

Aphid Treasure Trace is a new event in Genshin Impact 5.1. In it, players need to find and attack special Phlogiston Aphids that have been corrupted by Abyssal power. Different strategies and mechanics are available for pursuing and capturing these Phlogiston Aphids. To access this event, players need to have reached a minimum of Adventure Rank 20, and also need to have completed the Archon Quest "Song of the Dragon and Freedom."

It is also recommended to complete the latest instalment of the Natlan Archon Quest "The Rainbow Destined to Burn" in order to get the best experience from the event. However, it can still be played without completing this latest Archon Quest as long as the other prerequisites are met.

How to play Aphid Treasure Trace in Genshin Impact

To unlock the Aphid Treasure Trace event, you first need to start the quest "Aphid Treasure," located in the Children of Echoes region. This starts off with Xilonen introducing the threat posed by the Phlogiston Aphids, and then asking the Traveler to help catch them.

The Aphid Treasure Trace event has a total of five stages, with a new one unlocking each day. While different trial characters are available for different stages, the gameplay mechanics remain the same. Follow these steps to pursue, attack, and defeat the corrupted Phlogiston Aphids:

The place where Phlogiston Aphids can be found are marked on the map. Head to the location and interact with the challenge marker to start the event.

Step 2: Break the Wards of the Pholigston Aphids

Phlogiston Aphids have special Wards that don't let you attack them directly. In order to take them down, their Wards need to be broken first. Nightsoul-aligned attacks are more effective at breaking the Wards than normal attacks.

Step 3: Use the insect net

Xilonen will provide a special insect net that can be used to help destroy Wards quickly and stun Phlogiston Aphids for a short period of time. These insect nets need to be charged up before they can be used, and you can collect Shackleberries from the area in order to charge them up.

Once the insect net is fully charged, you can deploy it. You can store up to two and use them at the correct moment to break the Phlogiston Aphids' Wards.

Step 4: Attack the Phlogiston Aphid once stunned

After the Ward has been broken, the Phlogiston Aphid will enter a stunned state. During this time, you can attack it directly in order to deplete its corroded Abyssal power. Once the Abyssal power has been fully depleted, the Phlogiston Aphid can be captured.

Keep in mind that if you fail to deplete the Aphid's total Abyssal power after it has been stunned, it will flee to a nearby location after it has recovered. You will then have to chase it down and break its Ward all over again.

However, if you have a charged-up insect net ready to use, that can come in handy in this situation. Simply deploy the insect net to trap the Aphid when it is starting to flee, and its escape will be interrupted.

All Genshin Impact Aphid Treasure Trace locations

Here are the locations for all Captures in the Aphid Treasure Trace event and things to look for:

• Capture I: Children of Echoes (Xilonen): It is recommended you pick fruits along the way and collect the Phlogiston to keep Xilonen's Nightsoul state active. Doing so will ensure that you do not have trouble climbing the cliffs in this challenge.
• Capture II: Teticpac Peak (Kinich): You will have to use Kinich in this challenge and you can use his ability to lock on to the Aphid. However, it is recommended to have other Natlan characters on the team to use when Kincih's abilities are on a cooldown.
• Capture III: Tequemecan Valley (Kinich): You use Kinich in the third challenge of the event as well. It has a similar approach as before, however, there will be lightning strikes this time. You can use the character's ability to travel in circles to dodge the incoming strikes.
• Capture IV: Ameyalco Waters (Mualani): This challenge takes place in Ameyalco Waters and will allow you to use Mualani. It is recommended you follow the Aphid closely to be able to mark it with her ability easily.
• Capture V: Huitztli Hill (Xilonen): During the last Capture of the event, you can use Xilonen again. Like the first challenge, this one also includes traversing up cliffs and trees. As such, here too you should be mindful of Phlogiston and pick it along the way.
