Capturing Radiance is a new mechanism that will be added to the Wish system after the launch of Genshin Impact version 5.0. When you summon on a Character Event banner and the limited character is not guaranteed, you have a chance of triggering it.

Basically, Capturing Radiance gives you a higher chance of winning the 50/50 when pulling for limited characters on their Event banners.

Capturing Radiance: How does it work?

Essentially, with the introduction of the Capturing Radiance mechanic, one of these three things can happen when you pull on a Character Event Wish that you don't have a guarantee for:

• You get the limited character directly without triggering Capturing Radiance (aka you win your 50/50).
• You lose the 50/50, but Capturing Radiance is triggered and it turns your loss into a win, providing you the limited character.
• You lose the 50/50 and fail to trigger Capturing Radiance, leaving you with a non-rate-up character.

The odds of triggering Capturing Radiance after losing your 50/50 is 10%. This now makes the overall "50/50" chance into a "55/45" consolidated chance.

Capturing Radiance: What happens if you already have a "guarantee"?

The new Capturing Radiance mechanism does not affect any guarantee that you already have in any way. If you lost your previous 50/50, your next 5-star character will 100% be a limited rate-up character, without any chance of Capturing Radiance being triggered.

Capturing Radiance is only triggered when you do not have a guarantee, and your odds of winning the limited character are 50/50.

Capturing Radiance is limited to only the Character Event Wishes, i.e., the new character banner and the rerun character banner (Character Event Wish 1 and 2). This mechanic does not work on the Weapons banner or the Standard banner.
