News had surfaced recently of influencer Oumi Janta supposedly planning on suing HoYoverse for using her dance moves in the idle animation of Xilonen, an upcoming 5-star character releasing in Genshin Impact 5.1. Although Xilonen is not out yet, her idle animation was leaked from beta content. Following that, it didn't take long for fans to notice the supposed similarities between the leaked idle and Oumi Janta's dance moves that she had shared on Tiktok quite a while back.
However, Xilonen has now been officially introduced by HoYoverse, and her idle animation looks quite different from the one that had been leaked during the beta. The moveset is now different and seems unlikely to have been copied from the influencer's dance clip.
Speculations are now rife about HoYoverse allegedly tweaking Xilonen's idle animation following Oumi Janta's legal threats. Read on to learn more details about this new controversy that has besieged HoYoverse.

Xilonen's idle animation allegedly gets changed following legal threats from influencer
Ever since the similarities between Xilonen's idle animation and Oumi Janta's dance moves were spotted, HoYoverse has been accused of copying the moves without crediting the original poster. Many have spliced videos of Oumi Janta's dance and Xilonen's leaked idle animation clip side by side to highlight the similarities.
Soon after, Oumi Janta took to social media to reach out and talk about her plans to sue HoYoverse if the leaked idle animation made it to the final release of Genshin Impact 5.1 on October 9, 2024. While she mentioned that she didn't exactly "own these moves", they looked strikingly similar to her choreography. Janta also acknowledged that the idle animation might be leaked content, and said the following in context:
"Maybe this video is just a leak or it's a teaser but it's not in the game. If I see it online, I can do legal steps. If this is the case, I have to sue the company in 80 countries. Till then I have to wait."
Her announcement received mixed reactions from the playerbase. While some encouraged her to go ahead and take legal action, others warned her about the legal ramifications of suing over leaked content that wasn't supposed to have been released to the public.
Amidst all this controversy, HoYoverse has officially introduced Xilonen, providing details about her weapon, combat style, and idle animations. Players were surprised to see that the controversial idle animation hadn't made it to the final release after all.
The new idle animation for Xilonen does indeed show her skating, but the dance moves now incorporate standard skating, and do not resemble Oumi Janta's choreography. This sparked heated debates over whether HoYoverse had decided to rework the idle following legal threats from the influencer, with the playerbase equally divided amongst itself.
While some opined that HoYoverse had made a quick last-minute change to avoid any legal implications, others felt that this new idle animation had been planned to be released since the very beginning. Either way, the overhaul to Xilonen's idle animation means Oumi Janta doesn't have much grounds for suing HoYoverse anymore. The particular moveset that looked similar does not exist in officially released content.
