Ororon is an upcoming character who will be released in Genshin Impact version 5.2. He has been announced on social media by HoYoverse via his drip marketing post released last week. While no official information is available regarding his rarity, leaks have disclosed that Ororon will supposedly be a 4-star character. This news, however, did not go down well with a large section of the Chinese fanbase, who have raised their voices to demand that Ororon be released as a 5-star character.
Read on to learn more details about this altercation between the Chinese players and HoYoverse regarding Ororon's rarity in Genshin Impact.
80,000 Chinese players start a petition to change Ororon's rarity in Genshin Impact
Ever since Ororon was officially announced, players have been actively speculating about his rarity. He has already made his appearance in the game. In fact, he plays a major role in the Natlan Archon quests. This led many to believe that Ororon might be released as a 5-star character.

However, leakers have hinted at Ororon being a 4-star multiple times. A large section of the playerbase has been dissatisfied with this, stating that Ororon needs to be a 5-star character. This sentiment has brought together a section of the Chinese playerbase, who have appealed to HoYoverse to change Ororon's rarity before release, thus making him a 5-star character instead of a 4-star one.
Ever since Ororon's drip marketing was posted on Genshin Impact's Bilibili account, Chinese players started voicing their dissatisfaction with his rarity. Multiple comments have been posted since then asking HoYoverse to make Ororon a 5-star character. The number of commenters has now reached up to 80,000.
To add fuel to the fire, a popular account on Weibo posted a poll asking players whether they would pull for Ororon or Chasca in Genshin Impact 5.2. The poll received overwhelming responses in Ororon's favor, implying that many were ready to pull for him despite being only a 4-star, over Chasca, an upcoming 5-star character.
Furthermore, many Chinese players have also expressed dissatisfaction with HoYoverse's marketing strategies for their upcoming characters. According to them, Ororon is allegedly not receiving as much promotion and marketing as Chasca, which is unfair. Comments about HoYoverse not paying much attention to its male characters as compared to female ones have also cropped up.
HoYoverse has yet to respond to these allegations, and it remains to be seen if developers will address the demands for Ororon's rarity to be upgraded from 4-star to 5-star.
