Genshin Impact reveals World Level 9 upgrade: Boss materials, enemy levels and drop rate changes

HoYoverse recently published the Developer's Discussion for Genshin Impact for August 2024. It introduces some key features and quality-of-life changes that will be brought into the game starting from version 5.0. The developers made these optimizations based on the feedback that the players provided.

We dive into this month's Genshin Impact Developer's Discussion and cover all the new features and changes that will be introduced in version 5.0.

World Level 9 unlocked and material drop rates of some opponents have been optimized

From version 5.0 onwards, after reaching Adventure Rank 58, players will have the option to increase their World Level to Level 9. After increasing it, the rewards for defeating enemies will also be adjusted. For example, players will now be able to claim at least 3 guaranteed Talent Level-Up Materials upon defeating a World Level 9 Boss. The material drop rate of some other enemies in the open world has been adjusted as well. These enemies include

  • Specter
  • Abyss Mage
  • Nobushi
  • Kairagi
  • Ruin Guard
  • Ruin Hunter
  • Ruin Grader

Regional Speciality tracking function introduced and total map pins limit increased

From version 5.0 onward, players will be able to navigate the Regional Specialties through their in-game map to collect them. All you will have to do is select the Regional Specialty you want to collect and click on the "Go to collect" button. Doing so will mark and display the locations of all the Regional Specialties that have not been collected yet in blue circles on the map.

Once all the Regional Specialties have been collected in one area, the blue circles will automatically display new locations.

The limit for maximum map pins will also be increased by 50.

After version 5.0 goes live, eight new artifact sets will be added to Mystic Offering in the Crafting Bench. These sets that will be added are

  • Deepwood Memories
  • Gilded Dreams
  • Desert Pavillion Chronicle
  • Flower of Paradise Lost
  • Nymph's Dream
  • Vourukasha's Glow
  • Marechaussee Hunter
  • Golden Troupe

Serenitea Pot load and Furnishing Inventory Limit increased

With version 5.0, the maximum load capacity of the Serenitea Pot will be increased to 1.6 times the previous limit. This will give players more creative space and allow them to place more furnishings.

Moreover, the maximum Furnishing Inventory Limit will be increased from 2,000 to 2,200.

From version 5.0 onward, players will be prompted before consuming a special dish. This prompt will be displayed in different scenarios like

  • Consuming special dishes from the inventory
  • Adding special dishes to the NRE Menu
  • Consuming special dishes to revive fallen characters

In addition, food items with a lower rank will be prioritized and displayed ahead of the special dishes to avoid accidental usage.

The Food section in the Inventory and the Cooking interface will also be optimized where both will have an added Filter and Search function to make their navigation easier.


Condensed Resin Crafting and Weapon Enhancement Interface will be optimized

The number of Condensed Resin that players already own will be displayed on the screen and the maximum number of Condensed Resin that can be crafted will be automatically selected.

To simplify the Weapon Enhancement process, the preview of excess EXP converted will be displayed in the Weapon Enhancement Interface itself.


Forging Interface Optimization

While forging items, the maximum that players can forge will be automatically selected to avoid manual selection of every item.

Furthermore, while forging multiple items of the same type, players won't have to manually scroll each time to forge items. The quantities to be produced will be automatically selected to allow a smooth forging experience.

With the new update of Genshin Impact, the Personal Profile page will also display the number of characters at the maximum Friendship Level, and the number of stars players have obtained in Spiral Abyss from Floor 9 to 12.

The maximum number of characters that can be showcased will also be increased. A new toggle button will also be added on this page where players can choose to display the constellation level of the characters they have on display.

A Long Quest prompt will be added from Genshin Impact version 5.0 onward where players will be prompted before starting a quest that has a long duration or has challenging combat. For different scenarios, this feature will prompt the following:

  • For quests with a long story time, the Long Quest prompt will trigger and advise players to manage their time accordingly.
  • In scenarios where the quest has a challenging battle, the Long Quest prompt will trigger and recommend the elements, weapon types, etc., required to allow smooth gameplay.

Battle Pass and Reputation Level Quests optimizations

After the Genshin Impact version 5.0 update, upon reaching the maximum Reputation Level of a certain region, the weekly Reputation Quests and Bounties of that particular region will no longer be available. The weekly Reputation Quests from the Battle Pass "Weekly Missions" section will also be removed.

A new series of quests will be added to the Battle Pass missions in the "This BP Period" section. The quests will be oriented around enhancing 5-star artifacts. Completing these quests will reward players with the following:

  • Battle Pass EXP x 3,600
  • Primogems x 60
  • Sanctifying Unction x 60

The Battle Pass EXP claimed from completing the "Daily Commissions Quest" will be increased from 150 to 200.

Apart from that, a compensation of 1,00,000 Mora will be issued by the developers for the adjustments that have been made so far.
