Event Overview
In the Shuyu’s Baffling Beetle Battle Bowl event, players control the Bloom Pruner Onikabuto, navigating through 2-D battles against monsters, including Hilichurls, Abyss Mages, and so on. Mastering movement and timing is crucial, as the event emphasizes strategic distancing, dodging, and landing precise attacks.
A total of five beetle battle challenges unlock progressively during the event, with one new challenge available each day. Each challenge offers three difficulty levels: Friendly Spar, Focused Fight, and Utmost Might.
The first two difficulties are accessible immediately, while Utmost Might becomes available only after clearing Focused Fight. Players who complete challenges on higher difficulties automatically receive rewards from lower ones.
During the battle, players have three controls: Forward, Back, and Jump. Pressing the Forward button instructs Bloom Pruner to spend a small amount of Stamina to move forward by half a tile. Similarly, pressing the Back button allows it to retreat a full tile, consuming a fixed amount of Stamina to dodge incoming attacks.
Holding the Forward button charges the Onikabuto for a dash, which can cover up to two tiles. If the Onikabuto’s dash ends precisely on an opponent’s position, it triggers a Piercing Strike, delivering increased damage.
The Jump button will make the Onikabuto jump up, allowing it to dodge any ground attacks. Furthermore, pressing the Forward button when in the air will allow you to hit the enemy's higher-up weak points.
Each battle features a new enemy to battle, and each of them has its unique set of attacks and weaknesses. For example, the first battle is against a Hilichurl Fighter. The Hilichurl Fighter has ranged attacks, such as rock-throwing, which can be avoided with careful dodging.
Its weak point is located at the head, which can be hit using a mid-air dash. However, it has a wooden stick attack designed for aerial targets, having you evade by staying grounded. Players must adapt to these mechanics to achieve victory.
Furthermore, the event also features a co-op mode where you can match with another player or invite a friend to aid you in battle and defeat challenging foes.
