Genshin Impact Subdetection Unit routes and locations on map

Genshin Impact's latest 4.1 update introduced two new local specialties to the game. Both of them can be found in Northern Fontaine and are needed to ascend certain characters. One such Local Speciality is the Subdetection Unit, which is a required ascension material for the new Cryo DPS, Wriothesley. To fully upgrade him to level 90, players must collect 168 Subdetection Units.

Appearing as golden-colored mechanical bugs, these Subdetection Units can be found in the Liffey Region and Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy Engineering region, both of which are located north of the Court of Fontaine. Around 72 of them spawn in the over-world, and similar to other Local Specialities, they respawn after 48 hours of collecting.

Genshin Impact Subdetection Unit routes

The interactive map above displays all the locations where you can find Subdetection Units for Wriothesley in Genshin Impact. While the spawn points are scattered across the 4.1 map, there are a few locations where you can farm multiple Subdetection Units easily.

As such, farming routes for these locations have been provided herein.

Location 1

The first location you should visit to obtain some Subdetection Units is the Statue of the Seven, located in the Liffey Region. You may remember this place from the Fontaine Research Institute Chronicles World Quest added in version 4.1. There are a total of four Subdetection Units to be found in the vicinity.

Location 2

The second location to easily farm Subdetection Units is near the two Teleport Waypoints northwest of the New Fontaine Research Institute. Both are marked on the map above, and you can find 17 of this particular Local Speciality here.

You should begin with the Teleport Waypoint higher up and then follow the route toward the ruins shown in the image above. Once you have collected all Subdetection Units on this path, teleport back to the Waypoint and glide toward the coast to follow the other farming route shown on the map.

Location 3

The third good location for farming Subdetection Units in Genshin Impact is near the Experimental Field Generator world boss. You can teleport to the Teleport Waypoint near the boss enemy, as marked on the map above, and continue on the farming route westwards. Here, you should quickly find nine of them.

Location 4

You can find eight more Subdetection Units in the vicinity of the Statue of the Seven in the New Fontaine Research Institute region. After teleporting here, you can follow the two different routes marked on the map above to collect the Local Speciality.
