Ghost of Yotei

Following the success of Ghost of Tsushima, fans have been eagerly waiting for a sequel. Sucker Punch Productions have finally answered those requests, as they unveiled the Ghost of Yotei. The game follows the adventures of a new protagonist named Atsu across Mount Yotei. This upcoming action-adventure title will be released under the banners of Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2025.

Ghost of Yotei Release Date

This action-adventure game has been announced to hit the shelves in 2025 for PlayStation 5. Sony or Sucker Punch is yet to give an official release date for Ghost of Yotei. If the publishers follow the same release window as for Ghost of Tsushima, we could expect the upcoming sequel to be released in July 2025.

Ghost of Yotei Gameplay

Ghost of Yotei is an action-adventure that focuses on the underground vengeance of female warrior Atsu, who takes on the persona of "the Ghost". The announcement trailer gave a sneak peek into the gameplay which looked similar to Ghost of Tsushima but with some new features. Atsu would be able to use two swords and a chained weapon. Since the game would be set 300 years after the events of the first game, guns would be part of the game. Even Atsu could be seen using a musket in the trailer.

The game would have an open-world setting which would be based in Hokkaido, where the game's namesake Mount Yotei is located. Players would witness the Hokkaido culture during the Edo period since the game would take place in 1603. They might also get to witness some of the iconic buildings of that region in the game.

It is still unknown if Ghost of Yotei will have a multiplayer mode like the Ghost of Tsusima's Legends. Since that sequel will keep the essence of the original game intact, players might get a new multiplayer mode with new unique features.

Ghost of Yotei Characters

Sucker Punch has created some great characters for Ghost of Tsushima, so we could expect a similar plethora of characters in the sequel. The upcoming game's protagonist would be Atsu, a female warrior who would become the vigilante "Ghost". Since the game is set 300 years after the events in Tsushima, there won't be any characters from the original game. However, there could be references in this game. Atsu could also be a potential descendant of Jin Sakai.

There is a possibility that Atsu is Jin's descendant. Since the abolishment of the Sakai Clan due to Jin's actions in Tsushima, he might have established a new clan that focuses on protecting Tsusima and Japan from the shadows as he did as the Ghost. Otherwise, Jin's vigilante days as Ghost became a legend which inspired the new protagonist to take on the mask of Ghost and protect her homeland from the shadows.

Ghost of Yotei System Requirement & Platform

Ghost of Yotei has been announced for release on PlayStation 5. By then, a lot of players would also have the upgraded version, PlayStation 5 Pro, to get the best experience from this upcoming action-adventure title. Following their recent trend, Sony might eventually port this exclusively to Windows PC too.

Ghost of Tsushima took four years to be ported over to PC, while some PlayStation exclusives got ported to PC after only two years. Either way, PC gamers shouldn't be expecting to get their hands on Ghost of Yotei anytime before 2027. Since there are still no confirmed plans for a PC port, it is too early to even speculate on the system requirements. We will update this section when the Ghost of Yotei PC version is confirmed.
