The Ghost armor in Ghost of Tsushima is easily the most iconic armor set in the game, partly due to its heavy presence in the game's marketing and the narrative significance it comes with. While the Ghost armor is showcased in the title's numerous gameplay and cinematic trailers as Jin Sakai's primary samurai attire, it's obtained fairly late in the story.

Most of the armor sets in Ghost of Tsushima are either obtained organically via story progression or via the Mythical Tales. Although most of the legendary and iconic armor sets are bound to Mythical Tales, like the Gosaku's armor, the Ghost armor comes from completing one of the main story missions.

What makes the Ghost armor even more special is that it's a parting gift from a friend, who plays a pivotal role in the first two acts of the game.

Here's how you can obtain Jin Sakai's Ghost armor in Ghost of Tsushima.

The Ghost armor is unlocked in the final mission of the second act of the main story in Ghost of Tsushima - From the Darkness. In this stealth espionage mission, Jin Sakai must infiltrate Castle Shimura, which, at this point, is held hostage under the Mongols, and eliminate the enemy forces without raising any alarms.

At the start of the quest, Jin is given the Ghost armor by Yuna, who mentions that it was the last thing her brother Taka was working on before being executed by Khotun Khan. As such, the Ghost armor serves as a parting gift from Taka and also his last memory for both Jin and Yuna.

The Ghost armor doesn't necessarily fit as a samurai outfit. Instead, it's geared more toward stealth and Jin's Ghost stance. Its primary perk is the reduction in detection speed, which you can increase to 40% with the final upgrade, making Jin virtually undetectable by enemies under cover.

Additionally, the Ghost armor reduces the amount of enemies you need to kill to enter the Ghost Stance. Unlike other Stances in Ghost of Tsushima, the Ghost Stance is an overpowered state where Jin is able to kill up to three enemies in quick succession, with him being completely invulnerable to any form of damage.

Lastly, the final perk of the Ghost armor allows Jin to have a 30 chance to Terrify a nearby enemy by killing mobs or slaughtering a General. Terrify acts as one of the statuses in the game, where enemies inflicted by it immediately drop their weapons and attempt to flee the battle arena, allowing you to kill them with a single attack.
