Despite being surrounded by controversy over the PSN account requirement and restricted availability in multiple regions across the globe, the release of Ghost of Tsushima PC has been a massive success. Following its recent release, the game peaked at nearly 60k players on Steam within the first 24 hours, which is incredibly impressive for a single-player title.
While the game is originally developed by Sucker Punch Productions for PS4 and PS5 (Director's Cut), the PC port is helmed by PlayStation's in-house porting studio, Nixxes Software. Nixxes is responsible for delivering not only some of the best PlayStation PC ports but also some of the best PC ports in recent memory.
And given how well the game was received among fans and critics alike, it's no surprise that Ghost of Tsushima's PC release is such a great success for PlayStation.

Ghost of Tsushima PC is a major success for PlayStation, with roughly 60k players within the first 24 hours on Steam
Ghost of Tsushima PC performing really well shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who has been following Nixxes' PC releases. From Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man to Guerrilla Games' Horizon Forbidden West, Nixxes has been one of the very few development studios that have been consistent with the quality of their releases on PC.
While PlayStation did fumble a bit with some of their PC releases like Horizon Zero Dawn and the infamous The Last of Us Part 1, most of their PC ports were quite great, which isn't common ground for PC releases nowadays. At the time of writing this article, Ghost of Tsushima PC has roughly 30k concurrent players on Steam.
While it didn't surpass the all-time peak for Marvel's Spider-Man's PC port, Ghost of Tsushima is now Nixxes' second-best title in terms of player counts, far surpassing the likes of Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and even Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Sucker Punch's open-world samurai title was originally released at the tail-end of the PS4's life cycle, just a few weeks after The Last of Us Part 2. The game was initially met with some skepticism, considering it was being developed by Sucker Punch, a studio that's best known for its Infamous games.
However, Ghost of Tsushima eventually ended up being heralded as one of the best games under Sucker Punch's umbrella, and also one of the best titles on the PS4. Roughly a year after its PS4 release, the game made its way to PS5 with a Director's Cut upgrade, that features additional quality-of-life features, improved visuals, and more.
Ghost of Tsushima PC is essentially the Director's Cut version of the game, albeit with the usual suite of PC options that we've come to expect from all major releases on the platform, i.e., support for ultrawide, DLSS, FSR, XeSS, and a host of graphical options to tweak.
