Interestingly, Ghostrunner 2 offers three unique modes for players to pick from - Quality, Performance, and High Frame Rate. The Quality mode focuses on high-resolution rendition, while the High Frame Rate mode opts for frames greater than 60 FPS. Performance, meanwhile, is a middle ground between the two at a solid 60 FPS target.

Modern consoles boast more than enough CPU, GPU, and memory headroom to facilitate these settings. Here's how each mode fares across all consoles:

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X:

  • Quality: Dynamic 4K (2160p) resolution with 30 FPS target. The frame rate cap can be unlocked to reach up to 60 FPS.
  • Performance: Dynamic 4K (2160p) resolution with a 60 FPS target
  • High Frame Rate: Dynamic 1080p resolution with a 120 FPS target

Perhaps unexpectedly, both bigger home consoles offer similar performance metrics. So players can go for either system. The Series S, meanwhile, has an interesting turnout:

Xbox Series S:

  • Quality: Dynamic 4K (2160p) resolution with 30 FPS target. The frame rate cap can be unlocked to reach up to 60 FPS.
  • Performance: Dynamic 1080p resolution with a 60 FPS target
  • High Frame Rate: Dynamic 1080p resolution with a 120 FPS target

The smaller Series S also gets a 120 FPS mode, despite many games often axing that option on the console due to its weaker hardware. In this mode, it also uses dynamic 1080p, like the Performance option. But since it has to push even harder for 120 FPS, players should expect sub-HD resolutions from the Xbox Series S.

It goes without saying that players must have a 120 Hz capable monitor or TV to use the High-Performance Mode. Additionally, VRR-supported displays should also facilitate a smoother experience as a whole. Overall, we recommend players to opt for Performance mode.

Since Ghostrunner 2 is a well-crafted, fast-paced game, the smoother and stabler framerate would go a long way in minimizing mistakes and cheap deaths.

Developed by One More Level and published by 505 Games, Ghostrunner 2 launches on October 26, 2023, with owners of the Brutal Edition getting access two days early. Players can also check out its free demo across all platforms.
