EA Sports has officially revealed the top 25 highest-rated men and women in EA FC 25, with both Gianluigi Donnarumma and Thibaut Courtois being in the mix. These world-class goalkeepers are regarded as two of the best players in their position, and while the latter missed most of last season due to injury, both have similar ratings in the game.
Both of these shot-stoppers are 89-rated in the upcoming title, which is to be expected considering their reputation in the world of football. While Donnarumma's card was upgraded by one rating due to his performances for PSG and Italy, Courtois was downgraded as he missed all of last season due to injuries.
Courtois and Donnarumma are two of the best and highest-rated goalkeepers in EA FC 25
With Thibaut Courtois and Gianluigi Donnarumma being similar in rating and among the top 25 highest-rated men in EA FC 25, it is hard to determine the better goalkeeper. They are also similar when it comes to their stats and physical stature, which are key aspects when judging goalkeepers on the virtual pitch.

These will be the key areas when comparing the two superstars:
1) Height
A tall goalkeeper is often the most meta option in the world of EA FC. Not only are they better at stopping long shots and finesse shots due to their stature, but they are also better equipped to stop penalty kicks due to their impressive wingspan. However, there is little to differentiate Courtois and Donnarumma in this regard, as both are incredibly tall.
Despite their similarities, the Belgian from Real Madrid is 6'7", making him two inches taller than the Italian from PSG, giving him the edge in this comparison.
2) Stats
While there are six key stats when comparing goalkeepers, some are more important than others. Positioning, reflexes, and diving are far more significant compared to speed, handling, and kicking. This is where the difference arises.
Donnarumma has 90 diving, 90 reflexes, and 87 positioning in EA FC 25, while Courtois has 85 diving, 88 positioning, and 90 reflexes. This means that while their reflexes and positioning are almost identical, the Italian superstar has an advantage when it comes to diving.
However, Courtois has 88 reactions compared to Donnarumma's 84, which is also a key stat for goalkeepers.
3) PlayStyles
There are some new PlayStyles for goalkeepers in EA FC 25, which is best displayed by these two players. Courtois has the 1v1 Closedown+, Cross Claimer, and Far Throw PlayStyles, whereas Donnarumma has the Deflector+ and Footwork PlayStyles. This means that the former will be better in 1v1 scenarios, while the latter will be better at parrying the ball with his hands and feet.
Overall, Thibaut Courtois has historically been a more overpowered goalkeeper on the virtual pitch due to his height and unique animations. With his new PlayStyles and improved reactions, the same could apply to him in EA FC 25 as well. However, Donnarumma will be a better candidate for Career Mode enthusiasts since he is much younger and can be developed further.
