“Gonna flop HARD”: Concord reveals post-launch roadmap, leaving players divided

Following the announcement of Concord’s upcoming global launch set for August 23, 2024, at 10 am PT/ 10:30 pm IST/ 7 pm CET, the community seemed divided in their opinion of the hero shooter. While some enthusiasts from the FPS community seemed to like Sony’s take on hero shooters, most doubted if it will stand the test of time.

Earlier, Sony allowed Concord’s pre-purchasers to dive into the colorful world of the AAA hero shooter. However, the experience wasn’t satisfactory for many, with some facing various issues. This raised a massive outcry in the community, and based on posts on r/Concord, the title appeared to lack many things that one would expect from a hero shooter. This included quick-order options to ping, weapons, enemies, and more.

Meanwhile, Firewalk Studios missed out on several features like crossplay, 120 FPS, and deadzone options for PS5 users. While there are numerous examples of hero shooter titles out there, the community has failed to understand how the company ignored such basic features in its Early Access beta.

In a recent X post from Concord’s official account, the company teased its roadmap ahead of the title’s final release. User @Torque_Bow_ predicted the future of this AAA Hero shooter and said:

Another user, @IcyMario_, questioned a pivotal thing that several other users have also noticed. This was the fact that the title was missing Heros' ultimate ability. According to the user, for a game charging $39.99 for its standard edition and following the classic hero shooter format, each Freegunner needs to have an ultimate ability.

In continuation of the massive outcry, several users supported @Torque_Bow_ and cited that Sony won’t be able to make it until the end of this year. One user even went on to say that the title will be “dead” by October. According to some users, they would rather opt for the upcoming Souls genre game: Black Myth Wukong, or another hero shooter, Overwatch 2’s, new season.

Amid the stream of negative comments, some fans remained positive and expect the game to be polished following its final release in a few days.

Concord's post-release roadmap

As mentioned, Firewalk Studio revealed Concord’s roadmap ahead of its global launch, which is scheduled for August 23, 2024. The initial release will include 6 modes and 12 maps for players to cherish. It will also feature 16 Freegunner space outlaws and 8 variants. Players can pre-load the AAA title on their system (PC and PS5) from August 13, 2024, at 10 AM PT.

Once players get used to Concord’s game mechanics and Freegunner’s abilities, the developers will release its first season in October. Season 1 will feature a new Freegunner, variants, maps, and a plethora of QOL (Quality-of-life) updates.

The developers will release the title's 2nd Season in January 2025. Following the previous trend, this season will also include one new map, modes, in-game cosmetics, and numerous QOL updates to enhance players’ experience.
