GTA V breaks shipping record - 34 millions sold

GTA V

An announcement was made by Take Two which said that Grand Theft Auto V has shipped an amazing 34 million copies since it got released last September. The game broke entertainment records in the previous year and was 2013′s bestselling game. What’s even more impressive about this fact is that the game had only come out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Just imagine how many more copies they will sell when it releases for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One later this year.

When you look at other Take Two games, 2K’s NBA 2K14 became the bestselling game in franchise history after shipping 7 million copies. A record broken by another 2K game, Borderlands 2 who shipped a respectable 10 million copies. As for BioShock Infinite, this game too, shipped over 7 million copies since it came out last year.

But the real amazing fact of all of this is that NBA 2K14, Borderlands 2 and BioShock Infinite shipped over 24 million copies together. Yet, this is still 10 million copies less than when Grand Theft Auto V shipped on its own. This just shows you how popular the Grand Theft Auto series has become. It really is a giant in the video gaming industry. And what makes this series really stand out is the free-will that the character is given, letting him choose from the fastest car to the newest weapons. Now with the game upgraded, one can only imagine how much more one can do in this game.

With the success that the Grand Theft Auto V enjoyed, I’m sure Rockstar Games is all set, to work for Grand Theft Auto VI already, with fans patiently waiting to see just where they can take the game from here on. Across continents?? Outer space?? Who knows?
