Half Life 3: Facts and Rumours

half life 3: facts and rumours

The hugely expected game franchise of Half Life has generated many rumours as it’s been on many people’s lips since it’s first edition released in 1998. Subesequently, the franchise’s developers, Valve, released another edition of it in 2007 before building up to the soon-to-be-released sequel, tentatively titled Half Life 3, by coming out with two puzzle-themed games , Portal 1 and Portal 2, set in the Half-Life universe. This move turned out to be a major dud as the game could be finished in a single afternoon and just made the Half Life faithful more frustrated due to the much delayed announcement of the release date – a thing which hasn’t been dealt with yet. Honest Trailers came out with a spoof trailer of this game, while even referencing Half-Life 3 in the end

Meanwhile, Counter-Strike developer,Minh Le, confirms that Half-Life 3 is in it’s developmental stage and he has seen some of it’s concept art. He also maintains that just knowing about such a thing is not a big issue as many people already assume that Half-Life 3 is bound to be released someday.

Making an appearance on goRGNtv, Leh said "I think it's kind of public knowledge, that people know that it is being worked on. And so if I were to say that yeah, I've seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn't be big news to be honest."

But Leh’s statement is not a sign of certainty in this area as Valve could have been working on the third episode of Half Life 2, which the company promised a long time ago.

Also, the managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities, Michael Patcher, claims that Steam Machines are the cause of the delay of the game, as they want Half-Life 3’s popularity to be a launching pad for selling their Steam Machines, which are normally too costly to own. This information fully contradicts Valve’s claim about Steam Machines having exclusive games but this move can prove to be a huge moolah-raking business for them as Half-Life 3 may just be the reason why people may purchase the costly machines.

On the other hand, long-standing rumours about Source 2, the engine powering upcoming games like Left 4 Dead 3 and Halflife 3, have been confirmed as Steamfirst reported “"We have been told that Source 2 is nearing completion and that the current internal build of the engine at Valve Studios is at Beta #3."

In conclusion, every RPS fan must be hoping for a quick confirmation of some of the other rumours, satiating their long awaited expectations of the game.
