Call of Duty fans have demanded that developers introduce a round-based zombies mode in their game. Now, it seems Halo got to it first, and all the credit goes to the title's lively community.

Fans can now partake in the round-based zombies experience called Halo Infinite: Survive the Undead. This mode was introduced to the title only recently and has already won many hearts. The project was started by a group of third-party developers, The Forge Falcons, who utilized the Forge level editor, allowing players to customize the game to their liking and share it with the community.
Survive the Undead is an endless round-based zombies mode that provides a PvE experience. So, friends can team up to join this survival mode, and needless to say, it only ends when the players are eliminated. Although this project began as a merely community mode, 343, the studio behind Halo, loved the mode so much that the developers added it to the main playlist.
Here's what 343 Industries had to say about the team and their zombies mode,
"When your friend group is all strongly Forge-inclined and talented, you wind up with something like the Forge Falcons. Entirely community-driven, this crew dreams big and makes magic happen with the power of Halo Infinite’s Forge. If you can dream it up, they can make it happen—they are absolute wizards with Forge! Their hard work has earned them a well-deserved spot in matchmaking."
Halo Infinite: Survive the Undead is exactly what the Call of Duty fans have asked in the game. The game mode is quite ruthless and survival gets only harder as the rounds pass. In the mode, players can earn points, buy upgrades with it, get Perks for additional advantages in a match, and open Mystery Boxes for a surprise, just like Call of Duty's round-based zombies modes.
Survive the Undead has quickly risen to the top as one of the most popular modes, and as of May 26, 2024, it is the highest-rated mode in official matchmaking. However, the playlist will be up only for a few days and conclude on June 4, 2024. But 343 has asked for feedback from the community, and if they're positive, developers might just bring it back and continue it as a permanent game mode.
