While many trusted insiders had indicated that Hogwarts Legacy would make an appearance in the March 2022's PlayStation State of Play, the fabled Wizarding World RPG once again refused to make an appearance.
Developed by Avalance Software and published by WB Games, Hogwarts Legacy promised a proper video game debut for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts.
Ripped from the pages of the book and the screens of the movies, the open-world action RPG will allow players to assume the role of a fifth-year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1800s, and experience their magical education and adventures first hand.

However, the title’s repeated absence at events and lack of information has fans doubting whether it will be able to hold on to its 2022 release window.
Is Hogwarts Legacy’s repeated absence a concern for its release date?
Hogwarts Legacy was originally leaked back in 2018, with snippets showcasing third-person action gameplay. From its initial leak, the excitement and hype surrounding the title was quite high.
While the Wizarding World has made its debut in interactive media, they have mostly been uninspiring, low-budget movie tie-in titles. However, with the popular game, fans finally had a hope to not only watch and read about the Wizarding World, but to actively participate in it.
The game was officially announced in September 2020, during the PlayStation 5 showcase, with a late 2021 release date. Ever since then, the title has remained absent, bar from an official announcement delaying the game to 2022.
It has now been over a year and a half without any significant developments regarding the title and it is scheduled to be released this year. Earlier in the year, Warner Media CEO Jason Kilar reinforced the notion that Hogwarts Legacy, along with Gotham Knight, will hold on to its 2022 release window, while Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League will be delayed to 2023.
Speaking of the other two WB Games titles, both Gotham Knight and Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League have received multiple trailers including gameplay overview, narrative setup, and a release date of October 2022 in the case of Gotham Knight. Meanwhile, all Hogwarts had was a CGI teaser trailer and some narrative & gameplay setup information.
The State of Play earlier in the month was a perfect opportunity for a new trailer, reinforced by several reputable industry insiders. However, that did not happen so, and this continuous void of information has left fans worried about the future of the title, speculating about a potential delay.
It is quite possible that WB Games is saving all of its aces up its sleeve for a potential E3 season announcement in June-July. Many games get revealed during the E3 season, only to be released later in the year. As such, while the delay to 2023 is possible, Hogwarts Legacy could easily be revealed during the upcoming E3 season with a holiday 2022 release date.
