HBO GO app is now available on the Xbox One

HBO GO app Xbox One

One of the main elements that the Xbox One was lacking was a dedicated HBO GO app, which was present in the Xbox 360. The app gave players access to every season of every show offered by HBO, both old and new as well as a ton of movies and documentaries. The list of shows also included the critically acclaimed True Detective and Game of Thrones. So needless to say players were pretty disappointed when they could not watch their favourite shows on the Xbox One, especially since the Xbox 360 already had this feature.

The HBO GO app on Xbox One will include full HD support and Kinect and Voice gesture controls. The app offers a variety of ways to sort through videos, and players can pin their favourite show on their dashboard. This will make it easier to access when a new episode releases.

Players will still need to have a subscription to a cable or satellite TV in order to access the app. But according to News Site Variety, HBO’s CEO Richard Plepler had announced that HBO will be launching a stand-alone service in the US for next year. Till then, here is a list of cable providers that will authenticate your account through the app: AT&T, Suddenlink, Time Warner Cable, Verizon, Bend Broadband, Comcast’s Xfinity, Blue Ridge Communications, Massillon Cable/Clear Picture, Mediacom, Grande Communications, HTC Cablevision, Charter, Cox, DIRECTV, Dish, Digital Cable, Midcontinent Communications, Wow and RCN.

The app is now available on the Xbox One, so go get tuned into your favourite show!.
