Hearthstone Standard Rotation: The 5 Best Cards Shaman Will Lose From Constructed in Blizzard's Card Game

Image result for shaman hearthstone

Shaman hasn't received the best cards in the 2017 expansions of Hearthstone. It received some nice ones but other classes have had a much higher power level over the class. They received playable cards in Journey to Un'Goro and Kobolds & Catacombs. Knights of the Frozen throne saw the introduction the garbage Freeze Shaman, which saw no play.

With the introduction of Shudderwock and Genn and other powerful cards in 2018, Shaman's meta will change in the next Standard Rotation in Hearthstone

Check out our other pieces on other classes affected by the Standard Rotation in 2019: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest and Rogue. Here are the best Shaman cards rotating out of Standard.

#5. Healing Rain

Expansion: Kobolds & Catacombs

Healing Rain is the most powerful heal Shaman has received since Healing Wave from 2015's Grand Tournament. Healing Rain is better because it allows you to heal your own face as well as a minion on board.

A popular Wild Deck by streamer Dane involved Healing Rain, Sapphire Spellstone and Lightwarden, where he would heal and give the Lightwardens a huge amount of burst damage. It is a good recovery tool which also has no Overload.

#4. Thrall Deathseer

Expansion: Knights of the Frozen Throne

Thrall Deathseer is probably the only good card from the expansion. It is the cheapest Death Knight Hero card released in the set and it was easy to flood your board with minions and evolve them with your 5 cost Hero Card. The only problem with his effect is that it depends too much on RNG. The RNG can go against you just as much as it goes for you.

Thrall Deathseer is overshadowed by other Death Knight cards because of this. It is still strong as a card, especially with the Battlecry. But other classes got luckier.

#3. Volcano

Expansion: Journey to Un'Goro

Volcano is the strongest board clear for Shaman. It can do more damage than Lightning Storm if the board is small enough and is one of the few high damage board clear spells. The card only costs 5 with an Overload of 2, making it very balanced despite its strong damage. It can be a problem if there are too many high health minions on board, where RNG will need to save you from clearing the right minions.

#2. Kalimos, Primal Lord

Image result for kalimos hearthstone

Expansion: Journey to Un'Goro

Kalimos is a versatile legendary that allows the Shaman player to cast different effects based on their situation. The only condition is that you play an Elemental the previous turn, which is easy for Shaman. Invocation of Earth and Invocation of Air are the strongest effects, but you can use the other two depending on your situation as well.

#1. Unstable Evolution

Image result for unstable evolution hearthstone

Expansion: Kobolds & Catacombs

Unstable Evolution used the Echo mechanic before it became a thing in the next expansion, The Witchwood. The most popular thing to happen (especially on Trolden) is getting a Sorcerer's Apprentice or Radiant Elemental from the evolution and then having 0 mana infinite Unstable Evolutions.

Unstable Evolution can get you many different minions of stronger stats and you can evolve your minions selectively based on the situation you're in, whether it's high rolling a Taunt or getting a bigger minion.

Honourable Mentions

Murmuring Elemental

Expansion: Kobolds & Catacombs

Murmuring Elemental was the first time the effect of a double Battlecry was seen since Brann Bronzebeard left Standard. It could be used to trigger your Elemental twice or if you reduced its cost to 1, you could combo it at 10 mana with Shudderwock.

Grumble, Worldshaker

Expansion: Kobolds & Catacombs

Grumble is an overstatted minion at 7/7 for 6 mana. Grumble saw a spike in Popularity when Shudderwock was released, bouncing back multiple 1 mana copies of Shudderwock.

Fire Plume Harbinger

Expansion: Journey to Un'Goro

Fire Plume Harbinger is extremely useful in Elemental Shaman. It can be used to reduce the cost of a Murmuring Elemental to 1 to combo with Shudderwock. Fire Plume Elemental is cheap and helps you curve out your Elementals much more smoothly. One of the original Elementals introduced in the set, it has served to be quite useful in Shaman.

Lesser Sapphire Spellstone

Image result for lesser sapphire spellstone hearthstone

Expansion: Kobolds & Catacombs

Lesser Sapphire Spellstone is the only type of "copy" card Shaman has received. It was playtested in many different decks such as Malygos Shaman, copying large minions such as Snowfury Giant or Earth Elemental. It is relatively easy to upgrade (if you draw it on time) because Shaman has a lot of Overload cards which can do the trick.

It wasn't played as much as it should have, maybe because the mana cost was pretty high. It could see some very interesting combinations with the pool of Wild cards.
