Helldivers 2 August 2024 update: Everything we know so far

Since the release of Helldivers 2, the game has gone through plenty of changes thanks to the regular updates. Wars have escalated, new enemies being added, and most importantly, new weapons and stratagems have been developed to help players deal with all these fresh threats. However, Helldivers 2's upcoming update seems to be the biggest one yet.

The developers at Arrowhead Game Studios have dubbed it the Escalation of Freedom update, and it will bring a ton of changes to the title and might even lead to a new phase in The Second Galactic War. To help you prepare, here is everything we currently know about the Helldivers 2 August 2024 update.

Here is everything we know about the upcoming Helldivers 2 update

The Escalation of Freedom update will come out on August 6, 2024. According to the developers, this update will be the first of many steps where they look to expand the title in big and meaningful ways. Here's everything that will be added to Helldivers 2 with the Escalation of Freedom update:

• The Impaler (New Terminid enemy) - Will block off escape paths during combat against Terminids.
• New charger enemy - This one travels with fog surrounding it, so you might not be able to see this new enemy coming until it is too late.
• New Automaton enemy type - The Automatons have developed a new tank that will fire a barrage of rockets at you.
• Deadlier Brood Commanders - The new and improved Brood Commander will spawn in enemies that you haven't come across in the past.
• Difficulty Level 10 - This is meant to be a huge step up from difficulty level 9 and will throw a lot more enemies at players.
• New outposts - This update will introduce new enemy fortresses. It will be tough to liberate these outposts, but doing so will result in great rewards.
• New effect for Acid storm - Acid storms will now deteriorate armor. While you will be taking more damage, you will also be able to deal more damage to enemies since they aren't immune to acid storms either.
• New objectives - Retrieve the larva is one of many new objectives that will be added to the title along with the Escalation of Freedom update
• New planets - The developers will be expanding the world of Helldivers 2 by introducing new planets.

Apart from this, the war between the Automaton and Terminid enemy types will also continue to escalate. Automatons are building new deadly machines, while the Terminids are showing irregularities in their migration pattern. It'll be interesting to see how it all escalates on August 6, 2024.

This isn't everything that Arrowhead Game Studios has in store for players. The developer has said that there will be plenty of surprises in store for the players when they log in after the Escalation of Freedom update.
