With the introduction of Hogwarts Legacy, the gameplay has allowed players to see inside each House's common room at Hogwarts Castle. They all have significantly diverse designs that portray the spirit and values of Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin, as expected.

While most of the Hogwarts common rooms have been depicted or described in other Harry Potter media, Gryffindor is the only one that has received significant screen time, particularly in the Harry Potter films. Nevertheless, this changes in Hogwarts Legacy.

What are common rooms in Hogwarts Legacy?

In the world of Hogwarts Legacy, common rooms are special spaces within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that are designated for specific houses. These rooms serve as a communal area for students in the same house to gather and socialize. Each common room is uniquely designed to reflect the values and characteristics of the house it represents.

For example, the Gryffindor common room is located in a tower and is accessed through a portrait of a fat lady, reflecting the bravery and courage that Gryffindor house values. The common rooms provide students with a sense of community and belonging, as well as a place to relax and unwind after a long day of classes and studies.

What does each common room in Hogwarts Legacy look like?

The Hogwarts Legacy common rooms are where you will most likely spend your time in the game, making new friends with other wizards, practicing spells, and studying potions. Each of these common spaces in the open-world game has been painstakingly designed around one of the four elements, and this will be represented in the decor, furniture, and even the music, which itself is unique to each common room.

Even when reproduced in video games, the Gryffindor common room is arguably the most identifiable of the four due to its widespread involvement in the Harry Potter films and its significance as a backdrop throughout the novels. Its entrance, hidden behind an enchanted artwork, is probably as noteworthy as its interior, which features a colorful bulletin board, cozy red armchairs, and a fireplace that takes up nearly a whole wall. It is also frequently used as a party venue.

The vast amount of red and gold drapes sweeping the walls and floors make the common space immediately recognizable. There appears to be plenty of light in the room, and a couple of globes are spread throughout to show Gryffindor students' adventurous temperament.

Slytherin's Common Room

While most of the other common rooms at Hogwarts, with the exception of House Hufflepuff, are located in the castle's towers, Slytherin's is undoubtedly the most noticeable exception. The Slytherin common room can be found in the castle dungeons and is defined as majestic on the outside but frigid on the inside.

Furthermore, the common area stretches partially beneath Hogwarts Lake, giving the chamber a distinct greenish tinge - appropriate considering the House colors of green and silver - and offering Slytherin students with a distinctive underwater vista. Throughout the game, stone pillars and imposing arches can be seen as major accents, while beautiful tile flooring and large windows stand out quite a bit.

Ravenclaw's Common Room

Ravenclaw's common room, like Gryffindor's, is located in another of the castle towers in Hogwarts Legacy, however the overall ambiance is significantly different. Ravenclaw House capitalizes on its reputation as a thinker's haven by offering its residents with a plenty of books, art, and even constellations to study, owing to the stars that adorn the domed ceiling.

Marble busts can be found in various areas of the room, and there are telescopes that gamers may be able to use to observe the night sky, while the carpet in the center of the floor also contributes to the astronomy motif.

Hufflepuff's Common Room

Hufflepuff is another underappreciated Hogwarts House that appears in Hogwarts Legacy. Despite the fact that the entrance is just adjacent to the kitchens, the Hufflepuff common area is actually located in the basement, with its windows exactly at ground level. Spherical doors, patchwork quilts, and an abundance of plants and flowers contribute to the low-ceilinged room's cozy ambiance.

Cacti and flowers of various kinds can be found in the game, and the space is decorated with mismatched carpets and seats. The circular doors and carved wooden arches give the impression of a cozier room, more like a friendly social room than a school dormitory.
