A full Behind-the-Scenes video for the collab has finally been released, which announces the Honkai Impact 3rd x Honkai: Star Rail collab date, along with the characters who will be featured in the collab, as well as the release version for the collab.

Honkai Impact 3rd x Honkai: Star Rail collab date and release version announced

The Honkai Impact 3rd x Honkai: Star Rail collab will be launched on November 28, 2024. This collaboration between the two Honkai universes marks a first for HoYoverse, and fans of both the Honkai games are very excited.

The collab will be released in Honkai Impact 3rd v7.9 (across all global servers). It will be the first step in bridging the two Honkai universes, so this can have many implications in the lore of both Honkai games. Canonically, Welt is the only Honkai Impact 3rd crossover character currently present in Honkai: Star Rail.

Other characters from Honkai Impact 3rd are featured in Honkai: Star Rail, but these are separate versions of their original characters from Honkai Impact 3rd. These include characters such as Bronya, Seele, Acheron (Raiden Mei), Himeko, Natasha (Raven), Sushang, Yanqing, and Luocha (Otto Apocalypse/Void Archives).

Since the collab links the two Honkai games together, we will likely get to see these 'EXPY' characters in Honkai Impact 3rd sometime in the future. However, as of now, these characters are not featured in the Honkai Impact 3rd x Honkai: Star Rail collab.

The Behind-the-Scenes video reveals the different plans that the Honkai Impact 3rd team had prepared for the collaboration with Honkai: Star Rail. One such plan featured a plot revolving around Welt returning to his original home in Honkai Impact 3rd. Another plot showcased a head-on clash between the Astral Express and St. Freya, featuring Kiana vs. Trailblazer, Himeko vs Himeko, Mei vs Dan Heng, Herrscher of Reason Bronya vs Welt, and Fu Hua vs March 7th.

More of these plots are discussed in the Behind-the-Scenes video, but they are all eventually scrapped. However, these ideas could make it to upcoming collaborations between the two Honkai games, and the characters featured in the behind-the-scenes video might show up sometime later or be name-dropped somewhere in the Honkai Impact 3rd story.

As of now, it looks like Honkai Impact 3rd will be the only game that will receive content for the collab, with no new content being released in Honkai: Star Rail. Fans will have to wait and watch for more details regarding the collaboration via official announcements from HoYoverse.
