Horizon Forbidden West finally received the official AMD FSR 3.1 support, with the latest version 1.5 update. Alongside the FSR 3.1, the update also comes with support for FSR frame generation, allowing users who aren't on the Nvidia RTX 4000-series GPUs to finally make use of the frame-gen tech, as well as Native AA, separate from the game's TAA.

Although the latest update is primarily aimed at bringing FSR 3.1 to the game, it also comes with a host of bug fixes and under-the-hood optimizations that address the various issues that players have reported following the last major title update. Furthermore, the latest addition finally fixes the issues some players had with the game's Toggle Vista prompt.

Here's a look at Horizon Forbidden West PC's update 1.5 patch notes, as well as detailed information on AMD FSR 3.1 features in the game.

Horizon Forbidden West 1.5 official patch notes

Fans have been asking Nixxes Software for AMD FSR 3.1 support in Horizon Forbidden West for a long time, especially since the developer's most recent PC release, Ghost of Tsushima already comes with that feature. While Nixxes promised to bring FSR 3.1 to all its previous titles, it never committed to a confirmed date.

Finally, with the latest update for Forbidden West, players will be able to use AMD FSR 3.1 as well as the various visual enhancements it comes packed with. That being said, here's a look at the official patch notes for Horizon Forbidden West update 1.5:

  • Added AMD FSR 3.1 with frame generation and Native AA options.
  • Added a Cinematic Face Detail option in the Graphics menu.
  • Added a Stylized Mouse Cursor option in the Mouse & Keyboard menu.
  • Added an Output Mode option in the Audio menu.
  • Various optimizations and performance improvements.
  • Improved audio for Logitech G HUB Surround Sound users.
  • Ammo Crafting is now remappable on the Mouse & Keyboard.
  • When using a Nintendo Switch Pro controller, buttons are now working and show as intended.
  • Buttons are now working as intended when using the Nintendo Button layout on Steam Deck.
  • The Toggle Vista Prompt now works correctly when using Mouse & Keyboard controls.
  • Various user interface fixes.

To use AMD FSR 3.1 frame generation, players need to set the Upscaling method to FSR 3.1 and then enable Frame-generation. Players can also combine FSR 3.1 frame-gen with the Native AA option from the Anti-aliasing options setting, for a more crisper image with the added benefit of frame generation.

Additionally, the latest update also comes with fixes for the Nintendo controller issues that many Steam Deck users were facing following the version 1.3 update.
