Given the rarity and difficulty of catching a blobfish, be prepared to do a lot of fishing, and several failed attempts before finally catching it. This fish is only available during wintertime unless you use magic bait. If you have magic bait handy, go fishing on the western side of the pier on the beach in the southwestern corner of the map.
During winters, this fish is found near the Night Market deep sea submarine. As you reach this area, you will have to spend 1,000g to go fishing here. Apart from blobfish, there are many other sea animals and collectibles present here that you can find as well:
- Octopus
- Seaweed
- Pearl
- Spook Fish
- Sea Cucumber
- Midnight Squid
- Super Cucumber
Given the fact that it is extremely difficult to catch a blobfish, it is recommended to carry a Curiosity Lure to increase your chances. Without it, you only have around a 10% chance of getting the fish. If you don't have a Curiosity Lane, the next best option is to carry a Trap Bobber to ensure that the fish can't escape your trap once it is inside.
Once you have finally caught the fish, there are various ways to use it in Stardew Valley.
- Once you catch the fish, you can hand it over at the Community Center to finish the Master Fisher's Bundle in the Fish Tank achievement. Completing this bundle will reward you with the Dish O' The Sea meal.
- Blobfish can also be used to make Maki Roll, Sashimi, and Quality Fertilizer in the game.
- You can also put it inside a Fish Pond of your choice in the game
- Blobfish can also be sold to receive 500g in the game.
Do note that if you decide to put it in a Fish Pond, you might receive Blobfish Roe, Pearls, etc later on. These resources can later be sold for up to 784g in the game, making it a very profitable deal for you.
