Process to change your name in Overwatch 2
As mentioned earlier, changing your name in Overwatch 2 is a fairly easy task that can take upto one-to-two minutes of your time. You just have to change the BattleTag from your Account details.
That said, here’s a detailed process to change your BattleTag:
- Head to Blizzard’s official website.
- Put proper credentials and log into your account.
- Navigate to the top-right corner of your screen and tap on your current name.
- A drop-down menu will appear. Click on Account Settings.
- Upon opening the settings section, head to Account Details.
- Scroll down until you find the BattleTag option.
- Click on the update option and choose the name of your choice.
- Select the Change your BattleTag option and you’re all set.
Following the aforementioned process will change your name in Overwatch 2 everywhere, regardless of whether you play on PC or console.

In order to change your name in Overwatch 2, you must follow this naming criteria:
- The name should at least consist of 3 characters and can go upto 12 characters maximum.
- Players can use numbers in their name. However, they can’t start it with a number.
- Players can use accented characters like Æ, Ø, Û in their BattleTag.
- Players can use Mixed Captials in between their names.
- Players aren’t allowed to use any symbols or spaces in their names.
- Players are allowed to use names that fall under Blizzard’s Code of Conduct.
After changing your name from Blizzard's website, you may have to wait for 24 hours to see the BattleTag change come into effect.
If you've already changed it once and wish to do it again for a $10 fee, here's the process to follow:
- Head to Blizzard's shop and look for BattleTag change for $10.
- Upon purchasing it, you can change your name in Overwatch 2 again.
