Midra, Lord of Frenzied is one of the few bosses in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree that has a dedicated cutscene, emphasizing its importance in the expansion's story. While the entity is technically an optional boss in the DLC, he's not meant to be missed out on, especially if you're looking for more context about "Frenzied Flame" and its origin.

The battle against Midra is easy initially, with the boss having access to a few AOE (area-of-effect) attacks and a handful of combos. However, as you progress through the fight, it gets exponentially more challenging, with the second phase featuring attacks capable of killing the Tarnished in one shot.

Thankfully, due to Midra's humanoid structure and a predictable attack pattern, it's quite easy to defeat him if you know how to exploit his weakness(es). Here's a comprehensive guide on how to "cheese" Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. The article will also offer a build that's bound to help you kill the boss in a single attempt.

Tips to easily cheese Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

Structurally, the battle against Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame isn't anything too obnoxious or even challenging to deal with. Despite being the avatar of the Frenzied Flame, this boss has retained his human stature. As such, he is vulnerable to most of those attacks that easily break through the defenses of humanoid enemies in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Movesets like charged-heavy, light attack combos using Colossal Weapons, and jumping attacks are all incredibly viable against Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame. The boss, much like Morgott and Godfrey from the base game, heavily relies on delayed and AOE (area-of-effect) attacks.

While I tried out a lot of different builds and weapons against the boss, I had the best results with the dual Great Stars setup. Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame is very weak to Bleed and also can be easily staggered with just a couple of jump attacks. Additionally, you can trap the boss in a perpetual "stagger-lock" using Nanaya's Torch.

Using the charged heavy attack with this weapon easily breaks Midra's poise, and during the boss' recovery animation, you can charge another heavy attack, basically trapping him in an everlasting stun lock. However, the boss does break free from this strategy in the fight's second phase. Hence, using Nanaya's Torch for the entire boss fight isn't really viable.

That said, here's a build that I highly recommend using if you're struggling against Midra:

Weapons

  • Heavy Great Stars +25 (x2)
  • Cragblade Ash of War
  • Dragon Communion Seal

Talismans

  • Erdtree's Favor +2
  • Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman
  • Claw Talisman
  • Clarifying Horm Charm +2

Incantations

  • Golden Vow
  • Black Flame's Protection
  • Beastial Vitality
  • Flame, Grant Me Strength

Armor

  • Rakshasa's armor set (For increased DPS)

Here are the stats for the above-mentioned build:

  • Vigor: 60
  • Mind: 35
  • Endurance: 50
  • Strength: 50
  • Dexterity: 50
  • Intelligence: 9
  • Faith: 30
  • Arcane: 60

Your primary aim in this fight will be to use charged-heavy and jump attacks. If you use Cragblade Ash of War (which I highly recommend), you should be able to stagger Midra with just a single charged-heavy attack. However, I still recommend using jumping attacks instead since they are much more reliable and also have a way faster recovery.
