The Scadutree Avatar is easily one of the most annoying bosses in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, only outperformed by Commander Gaius. While the boss isn't particularly challenging and has fairly easy-to-dodge attacks, its erratic moveset and an unreliable hitbox, really dampen the enjoyment of the boss fight against the Scadutree Avatar.
Although it's not as obnoxious as Elden RIng DLC's final boss - Promised Consort Radahn, and rarely deviates from its basic movesets even after phase transitions, it's still a boss that's going to test your patience and agility. Thankfully, there are ways and tools to help you easily defeat the Scadutree Avatar, without much hassle.
Here's a comprehensive guide on how to "cheese" the Scadutree Avatar in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Tips to easily cheese the Scadutree Avatar in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
The Scadutree Avatar is technically the easiest end-game boss in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. However, the amount of damage it's able to deal with each of its attacks and combos makes it one of the most annoying bosses in the game. To add salt to injury, the Scadutree Avatar has three phases, where it can fully regenerate its health.
And if that's not all, each new phase adds entirely new attacks to the existing attacks, which can make it incredibly hard to deal with. What's even more annoying is that most of the attacks of the Scadutree Avatar are incredibly delayed, and some of them can also inflict Bleed.
Thankfully, the Scadutree Avatar doesn't have much in the way of defense, and can actually be defeated fairly easily if you know how to exploit its weaknesses and also maximize damage against the boss. The Scadutree Avatar is extremely weak to fire damage, and using something like Messmerfire Grease basically trivializes the boss.
Here's a build that I found to be extremely effective against the Scadutree Avatar, allowing me to defeat it within minutes, without much hassle:
Weapons:
- Heavy Great Stars +25 (Power-stanced)
- Cragblade Ash of War
- Dragon Communion Seal
Talismans:
- Erdtree's Favor +2
- Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman
- Claw Talisman
- Two-Headed Turtle Talisman
Incantations:
- Golden Vow
- Black Flame's Protection
- Beastial Vitality
- Flame, Grant Me Strength
Armor:
- Rakshasa's armor set (For increased DPS)
As for stats, here's the breakdown:
- Vigor: 60
- Mind: 35
- Endurance: 50
- Strength: 50
- Dexterity: 50
- Intelligence: 9
- Faith: 30
- Arcane: 60
As for the trick to using this build effectively, well, you need to rely on jump attacks and target the boss' head. While you can attack the base of the Scadutree Avatar for some damage, the head is where it affects the most. And if you're patient enough, you'll get plenty of opportunities to land a fully charged jump attack on the head.
Additionally, take the time between the phases where the Scadutree Avatar respawns, to buff your weapon up with Cragblade and Messmerfire Grease. Scadutree Avatar also takes Bleed damage, so the Great Stars is the perfect choice here. Alternatively, switch to a Shield-Spear build if you want an even easier time against the boss.
Using a Greatshield and a Spear, something like the Mohgwyn's Scared Spear, makes quick work of the Scadutree Avatar, without you having to break a sweat.
