Hornsent's questline in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is one of the new NPC quests you can take part in. Just like Thiollier in the DLC, Hornsent too is a tragic character. This devout follower of Miquella the Kind has sacrificed everything in the name of his grand crusade, only to be turned into a dull blade.

Steps for completing the Hornsent's questline

• Gravesite Plain is where you start your journey into the shadow realm. Continue heading north until you come to a fork in the road beside a dying tree. At the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace, there is a glowing cross that is one of Miquella's crosses.
• When you get to the Three-Path Cross, two characters will greet you. One of them is Hornsent, gazing northeast toward Castle Ensis. Talk with Freyja first, and she will tell you to go to Hornsent regarding a map of Miquella's Crosses.
• Engage Hornsent in conversation. He'll initially express hostility towards outsiders and mention the Erdtree as an adversary to his people. Keep talking to him, and he'll reveal his oath and belief in Miquella's intentions, ultimately providing you with a map showing three of Miquella's crosses. This will initiate Hornsent's questline.

• When you defeat the Dancing Lion Divine Beast, wear its head and talk to Hornsent Grandam. You should deliver the Scorpion Stew that she offers to Hornsent. Three Furnace Visages will be your recompense from him.
• After you beat Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, and defeat Castle Ensis, locate Hornsent north of the castle exit, next to the Highroad Cross Site of Grace. He will be standing with Leda, the Needle Knight.
• Collect the Monk's Missive and "May the Best Win" gesture near Hornsent. Interact with him to receive an updated Cross Map featuring four additional crosses.
• Speak with Hornsent again to learn about Miquella's actions at the crosses and his instructions to visit the misshapen tree of Umbra.
• Approach Shadow Keep, triggering an event about a great rune breaking. Return to Hornsent for a conversation about vengeance and his plans for Messmer.
• To help with the boss battle against the Golden Hippopotamus, locate Hornsent's summon sign near the Shadow Keep Main Gate Site of Grace.
• At the Main Gate Plaza's Storehouse Front, choose between helping Hornsent or Leda in their conflict. Siding with Hornsent against Leda will result in her disappearance from Highroad Cross.
• If you didn’t side with Leda, you can summon Hornsent against the fight with Messmer. His summon sign is inside the boss arena, to the right. However, once his vengeance is sated, he will look for a new target, you.
• If you allied with Hornsent against Leda, he will ambush you in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh before the Romina, Saint of the Bud boss fight. Defeating him here, you can collect his weapon and armor set.
