How to complete Ijo-o Shrine in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is an expansive game wherein you can partake in activities like exploration, side quests, main missions, and puzzle solving. Shrines are a crucial aspect of the game, with a whopping 152 to complete. A part of the challenge is to reach them, and once inside, you must defeat some foes to earn rewards. The same goes for the Ijo-o Shrine.

This shrine will test your defensive capabilities and encourage you to use shields as you navigate its environment. It is, therefore, also referred to as More Than Defense. You must leverage Link’s other abilities while exploring this shrine to earn the final reward.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom guide: Completing the Ijo-o Shrine

The Ijo-o Shrine is situated in the West Hebra Sky Archipelago in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, in the vicinity of the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower north of Rito Village. Use the tower to propel Link and glide across to the Archipelago.

As soon as you land on the West Hebra Sky Archipelago, use one of the hot air balloons to head towards a green glow in the north, where you find the Ijo-o Shrine. While using a paraglider to reach it is one option, you can also try to complete the Wind Temple to unlock Tulin’s (one of the sages in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom) Gust ability which aids Link to glide farther.

You will face a Construct enemy to your right after entering the shrine. Make sure to pick up all the loot after defeating it, as one of the items you obtain is the Flame Emitter Shield. Use it to melt the ice that blocks your path ahead. Take a right, and you will spot another isolated ice block that can be melted. A chest within it will reward you with five arrows.

Now, head to the extreme left of the room to battle a Construct enemy and defeat it. Remember to grab all the dropped items from the enemy, particularly the Stone-Slab Shield. Equip this shield and head to the center of the room with flames. The shield will block the flames, and you can move to the area on the right.

If you don’t want to use the shield, pick up a large stone slab beside the Contruct enemy and use the Ultrahand ability to use it as protection from the flames. After taking the right turn, you will arrive in a spacious area with another Construct enemy. Get rid of it and head towards the left, where the rocket is.

Resort to Link’s Fuse ability in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom to combine the rocket with any of your shields. Head to the end of the room to the north and simply unholster or bring out the shield to activate the rocket, which in turn propels Link in the air. You will arrive at the end of the shrine, where interacting with the pedestal will earn you the Light of Blessing.
