How to complete Redmane Freyja's questline in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree features a plethora of optional questlines you might completely miss out on if you don't explore the Shadow Realm to its fullest or skip talking to certain NPCs. While a majority of these side quests are quite lengthy, a few are quite short, often requiring just a few steps to complete and get done with.

One such short but incredibly important side quest is that of Redmane Freyja's. Freyja's quest starts fairly early, in the Gravesite Plains. However, by the time you reach the upper floors of the Shadow Keep legacy dungeon, you can finish her questline and obtain the reward at the end of it.

While Freyja's questline is quite short, it still features plenty in terms of lore and revelations, especially if you're curious about Miquella's real motives behind invading the Shadow Realm. How to start Redmane Freyja's quest in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree?

Redmane Freyja's questline starts as soon as you start Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, arrive at the Gravesite Plains, and make your way over to the first Miquella's Cross, i.e., the Three-Paths Cross Site of Grace. Sidenote: before you reach the Three-Paths Cross Site of Grace, you will encounter the first Furnace Golem, which I highly recommend defeating to get the Deflecting Hardtear.

Once you reach the Three-Paths Cross, talk to both Redmane Freyja and Hornsent and exhaust their dialogue. Once you've done that, proceed to the Belurat Tower Settlement. Before you head into the castle, you will meet two more NPCs: Sir Ansbach and Moore.

Talk to both NPCs and exhaust their dialogue before you enter the castle. Proceed through the castle until you reach the Stagefront Site of Grace and the first boss Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree—Divine Beast Dancing Lion. Before you head inside the boss fog, make sure to summon Freyja with you to continue her questline.

After defeating the Dancing Lion, talk to Freyja at the Three-Paths Cross Site of Grace and then head to the Shadow Keep, the second legacy dungeon of the DLC. Once you reach the Shadow Keep, proceed through the dungeon until you reach the Storehouse, Seventh Floor Site of Grace.

Near the Site of Grace, you will find Freyja attempting to decipher a tablet. Talk to her and exhaust her dialogue. Then, backtrack to the Storehouse, First Floor, where you will find Sir Ansbach. Talk to Ansbach, start his questline, and tell him about Freyja. This will result in Ansbach giving you a tome you can take to Redmane Freyja.

After receiving the tome, talk to Freyja again, and give her the tome. Talk to Freyja again, and after she reveals her wish to stay loyal to Miquella and his Age of Compassion, she will give you the Lion Shield, concluding her questline.
