Sir Ansbach's questline in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree starts as soon as you arrive at Belurat Castle's front door (Belurat, Tower Settlement). You will first come across the NPC near the Main Gate Cross Site of Grace. You will also find Moore at the same location, who you can interact with to purchase some crafting materials and Rune Arcs.

After you talk to Sir Ansbach at the Main Gate Cross Site of Grace, he will stay there until you defeat Rellana, Twin Moon Knight and make your way to Scadu Altus. He only moves away from that location if you head to Bonny Village or inside Shadow Keep. The moment you set foot inside the latter or go past the former, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree's main story will advance.

Talk to Sir Ansbach on the Storehouse, First Floor, and he will ask you to seek out a hidden text scroll, which might shed some light on Miquella's plans. The NPC — being a devotee of Mohg, Lord of Blood — is taken aback by Miquella and his "charmed" allies taking Mohg's body for some undisclosed ritual. As such, he wants you, the Tarnished, to help him investigate.

As you explore the upper floors of the Shadow Keep Storehouse, you will find the Secret Rite Scroll, which you need to take back to Ansbach. The item can be found on the fourth floor of the Storehouse, right before you visit the fifth floor. The location of the Scroll can be accessed by a hidden staircase in the alley that takes you to the fifth floor.

After you find the Secret Rite Scroll, take it back to Sir Ansbach on the Storehouse, First Floor, and let him decipher it. Rest at the nearest Site of Grace and return to Ansbach and talk to him. After that, you can summon him as an ally to fight the final boss of Shadow of the Erdtree, Promised Consort Radahn. However, do note that summoning an NPC adds to the boss' already massive health pool.
