Chained Together: How to create a lobby or a new session
Follow the below-mentioned steps to start a new session or create a lobby in Chained Together:
- Once you have launched the game and are in the main menu, select Play.
- Click Host a Game.
Once you have selected a name for your lobby and set a passcode, you will need to select the difficulty level you want your session to be in and whether it will feature Opened or Closed chains.
The difficulty levels are described as follows by the devs:
- Beginner: An option in the pause menu allows you to teleport back to the highest point you reached before a significant fall.
- Normal: No specific help, you fall in case of failure and must start over.
- Lava: You must climb quickly before the lava engulfs you.
Do keep in mind that Chained Together Steam Achievements and leaderboard updates are only available in Normal and Lava difficulty modes.
For those unaware, the co-op title has you and your companions bound together by a chain. The chain sports realistic physics simulation and adds to the gameplay complexity. Choosing the Opened chains option will allow you to be bound in a straight line while the Closed chains option sees you bound in a circle or a loop.
With all of these done, you can now invite your friends to the lobby and choose your character. Note that you will have to update the game to patch version 1.7.2 to avoid facing issues with inviting friends.

The devs earlier on June 19 noted that the large influx of players post-launch was creating issues for those wanting to join their friends as they had "a very large number of lobbies to process." Version 1.7.2 is meant to bypass this problem, with players now able to create a session, use Shift+Tab to bring up Steam overlay, and invite their friends.
