How to defeat the Divine Beast Warriors in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

The Remembrance bosses in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree are easily the most challenging encounters the game has to offer, with some even surpassing the likes of Maliketh and Malenia in terms of sheer difficulty. From Rellana, Twin Moon Knight to Bayle the Dread, there's no shortage of challenging (but mostly fair) bosses in Elden Ring's recently released story expansion.

That said, just like any other FromSoftware game, there are also a few elite enemies that despite not having the status of a boss, are still considered incredibly challenging by players unanimously. Remember the Ringed Knight from Dark Souls 3, or the Shark Giants in Bloodborne? Just like those enemies, Shadow of the Erdtree has the Divine Beast Warriors.

Although their humanoid stature might not intimidate you at first, their sheer aggression and raw strength surely will. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to easily defeat the Divine Beast Warriors in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Tips to easily defeat the Divine Beast Warriors in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

The Divine Beast Warriors, despite not being bosses, do act a lot like a mini-boss, something that you will fight right before a main story boss. As such, they present a considerable amount of challenge, even if you show up with an end-game build. Not only can they loop you into their combos pretty easily, but they can also "one-shot" you if you fail to timely dodge their attacks.

Thankfully, there are some effective ways to take down the Divine Beast Warriors. Much like the majority of enemies in Elden Ring, they are incredibly susceptible to Bleed (Hemorrhage). Additionally, given these enemies are humanoid, they can very easily be stance-broken with Colossal Weapons.

Additionally, given the Divine Beast Warriors can harness Frost affinity, you'd think they're probably immune to Frostbite. However, that's not true, the Divine Beast Warriors are equally as susceptible to Frost affinity as the boss variant of these enemy types, i.e., the Divine Beast Dancing Lion. That said, these enemies are very immune to almost all other affinities.

During my time with the game, I found elemental affinities to be the best offensive option to use against the Divine Beast Warriors, as regular attacks barely make a dent in their gigantic health bar. Moreover, they can be staggered pretty easily with charged-heavy and jumping attacks, preferably with Colossal Weapons, as mentioned previously.

That said, do note that if you try to hit the Warriors during their attack animation, it, for some reason, doesn't count towards poise damage. Also, the Warriors, much like any boss enemy type in Elden Ring, gain hyperarmor during most of their attack animations. Hence, it's recommended to only attack the Divine Beast Warriors when there's an opening.

Lastly, a small tip that I found while trying to make my way to the top of Enir Ilim in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, is that you can simply crouch near the Divine Beast Warrior to avoid getting hit by their whirlwind combo. You can also jump through these attacks to avoid them, but crouching is what I found to be most consistent and efficient.

As for weapons, I'd highly recommend Great Stars, preferably power-stanced, or anything that has a good amount of Blood-loss build-up. Additionally, a Greatshield with the Defelcting Hardtear works wonders against the Divine Beast Warriors. Also, if you're looking for something a little safer, the Blasphemous Blade is a good option.
