Guangzhi is one of the very first bosses you will go up against in Black Myth Wukong. Although technically optional, you don't really want to skip this battle since the rewards you get upon defeating the boss are somewhat essential for the later encounters in the chapter.
Guangzhi's elemental abilities and fire buildup pose the biggest threat to the Destined One. Using his flame twinblade, Guangzhi can easily inflict Burn status on you with just a few attacks. However, if you time your dodges right, you can easily avoid most of his attacks.
Here's a comprehensive guide on how to easily defeat Guangzhi in Black Myth Wukong.

Tips to defeat Guangzhi in Black Myth Wukong
The battle against Guangzhi in Black Myth Wukong is a fairly straightforward one-on-one brawl. After you deal enough damage to the boss, he will start using his charged heavy attack, which can easily inflict Burn status on you.
Just like in Dark Souls and Demon's Souls, status ailments in this game are extremely powerful, capable of dealing a ton of damage, passively.
However, if you read into Guangzhi's movements properly, you can predict his attacks and dodge them quite easily. The only thing you need to worry about is the Burn status gauge on the right side of your screen. Make sure it does not max out.
Additionally, performing consecutive dodge rolls, or even Perfect Dodges in Black Myth Wukong, is an effective way to negate Burn build-up.
Here are some tips that should help you against Guangzhi in Black Myth Wukong:
- The only Spell you have access to before fighting is Immobilize. However, that is all you need since it will mostly act as an extension for your regular attacks.
- Don't start the boss fight with Immobilize. Instead, use regular attacks and follow it up with varied combos, or even better, a charged heavy attack to easily stagger the boss.
- Once the boss is staggered, charge another heavy attack and hit him before he can recover.
- If you find yourself messing up the stagger counterattack timing, use Immobikize to give yourself some breathing room.
- Additionally, make sure you invest a few points into the Rampant Vigor and Robust Constitution skills under the Survival tree in Foundation to increase your survivability.
Once you defeat Guangzhi, you will be rewarded with the Red Tides Transformation, which transforms you into the boss for a short duration.
The Red Tides Transformation is a very powerful tool if used wisely, and it's incredibly effective against the remaining bosses you will face in the first chapter of Black Myth Wukong.
