How to defeat Homo Gorleo in Metaphor ReFantazio

The campaign of Metaphor ReFantazio takes you across the vast map of the United Kingdom of Euchronia, with myriad side content and quests to partake in. The game features a turn-based combat system popularly seen in developer Atlus' previous title Persona 5.

The very first enemy you must defeat to proceed forth with the campaign is called Homo Gorleo and is found in the game's Prologue, within the Northern Border Front region. In effect, this is meant to be a tutorial fight that teaches you gameplay aspects such as Archetypes, enemy weak points, and more.

You will first encounter Homo Gorleo while playing as the main character, who is termed as the Protagonist. You will only be accompanied by Strohl for this battle, given how early it takes place in the game. At first, the battle may seem like a lost cause, given that none of your attacks seem to damage Gorleo much. In this situation, it is recommended to defend from the enemy's attacks, taking minimal damage.

A cutscene will play some time into the fight, following which the Protagonist will become capable of dealing heavier damage to Gorleo. The Seeker Archetype will become usable, and within it, the skill Cyc can be used to deal some moderate damage to the enemy. Should health reserves run low, the Dei skill can be used to restore some health.

At this point in the fight, you will be instructed to attack the enemy's weak points to deal increased damage. This can be done by zoning in on the enemy's Wings and Legs, which can significantly reduce Gorleo's health. Across the battle, the enemy will keep consuming apples to restore health.

Gallica will intervene, and a prompt appears, asking you if you'd like her to have Gorleo's apples knocked down. Selecting Yes will see Gallica knock out the enemy's healing source, following which a thorough assault can be launched on the enemy. As a reminder, using Dei can greatly help should health reserves seem to be dwindling.

Upon defeating Homo Gorleo, you are rewarded with 1 Gorleo's Apple, which can be sold for money at an in-game shop.
