Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree isn't immune to reusing standard enemies as bosses, with Jori, Elder Inquisitor, being the best example of that. Although Jori is technically a necessary boss that you must fight to make your way to the Abyssal Woodlands, it's not a unique battle against a new enemy type. Instead, it's a buffed-up Inquisitor.

The Inquisitors are a common enemy type that you will encounter throughout the Realm of Shadow, mostly in the Gravesite Plains and the Rauh Ruins. As such, it's a bit underwhelming to see a common enemy type being reused as one of the named bosses in the Elden Ring DLC.

Thankfully, Jori, Elder Inquisitor can be quite a challenge, especially if you try to invade the Abyssal Woodlands without a minimum of 10 Scadutree Blessings. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to easily defeat Jori, Elder Inquisitor in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Jori, Elder Inquisitor is found at the bottom of the Darklight Catacombs, which you can access after visiting the first floor of Shadow Keep. However, do note that in order to reach the first floor of the Shadow Keep, you must defeat two main story bosses - Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, and the Golden Hippopotamus.

Once you reach the Darklight Catacombs, you have to make your way to the bottom of the dungeon, where you will face off against Jori. Although most of her moveset is quite similar to the normal Inquisitor enemies, she does have a few new tricks up her sleeves. These can catch you off-guard.

Thankfully, she doesn't have too much health to begin with. Even if you stumble upon her boss arena quite early in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, you can defeat her, as long as you can avoid taking too much damage. Here are some tips that should help you defeat Jori, Elder Inquisitor in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree:

  • Most of Jori's attacks are projectile-based, with her close-ranged melee attack being fairly easy to avoid and punish. You ideally want to have a Colossal weapon equipped for this fight as it will allow you to easily stagger-lock the boss.
  • The first attack that Jori always starts the boss fight with is the multiple Crescent projectiles, which can be dodged by sprinting or simply rolling.
  • Once you get close to the boss, she has two moves that she can do: a staff thrust attack, which can be avoided by rolling, and a much deadlier ground spell that can easily stagger you and deal a ton of damage.
  • Once you get close to Jori, Elder Inquisitor, you would want to overwhelm her with a flurry of attacks. If you're using a heavy weapon, it is recommended to use the Claw Talisman alongside the Blade of Mercy to deal a ton of posture and critical damage with jumping R2 attacks.
  • Once Jori's health drops below 50%, she can summon either a group of regular Inquisitors or a fat Inquisitor to try and overwhelm you. Thankfully, you can stagger Jori out of her summoning animation with either a reposte or a couple of charged heavy attacks.
