The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom is the latest release in Nintendo's popular franchise and has players controlling Princess Zelda across the vast map of Hyrule. Across the campaign, players can partake in many side quests, pick up collectibles, and fight a whole host of enemies.

One of the enemies encountered by Zelda Echoes of Wisdom players in the Eastern Temple region of Hyrule is a mini-boss named Smog, also called the Cloud Boss. This battle is in three parts, and its completion marks the "Let's Play a Game" side quest closed, besides giving you rewards for defeating Smog.

How to find and defeat Smog in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom

Key to note before starting the fight is that the battle takes place across three phases. Smog also only moves either vertically or horizontally and can shock Zelda upon direct contact. The smaller clouds Smog breaks up into will repeatedly shoot Lightning Orbs, which players must avoid to not take heavy damage.

Phase 1: Attacking in the Swordfighter form

Smog is completely immune to standard attacks in the first phase, so to combat this players must switch over to Zelda's Swordfighter form. This form gives Zelda a bow, so send a few arrows Smog's way. When his body flashes white, it means he is taking damage, so land as many arrows as possible. Once enough damage has been dealt, he will proceed to break into three smaller clouds.

Phase 2: Combining the clouds

The Swordfighter form cannot damage the three cloud types, so the only way to proceed forth is to have them collide and merge into one. Zelda can use boulders and echoes such as Pots to block their path and send them on a collision course.

When all the clouds merge, Zelda can once again hit Smog in her Swordfighter form. Once again, delivering arrows Smog's way will now see him break up again, but this time into five clouds.

Phase 3: Combining the clouds for the final time, and triumphing over Smog

Similar to Phase 2, the clouds must be merged once again to damage Smog. With the two parts in play, players must be vigilant in not taking damage from the Orbs being shot their way. Boulders can be placed tactically to send the clouds on a collision course, and Echoes such as Pots can also be beneficial during this phase.

Once the five clouds have been merged, the Swordfighter form can be used to send many arrows in Smog's direction. The fight will conclude once you finish off the boss.
