FIFA 23 is back, and it appears to be a significant improvement over its predecessors. FIFA gets very close to real-world football thanks to the HyperMotion 2 Gaming Technology. With the Ones to Watch campaign already over, players are looking forward to the Road to the Knockout, or RTTK, in FIFA 23.

Heroes and Icons, TOTW and Ones To Watch cards are all available in the all-encompassing mode, but FIFA fans who are serious lovers of the sport outside of the game should pay special attention to Road to the Knockouts (RTTK) cards.

What is a Road to the Knockouts card in FIFA 23?

Road to the Knockouts cards are unique FUT cards featuring players from the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League. However, similar to last year's FIFA 22, RTTK cards can earn two upgrades that will boost stats throughout the season - although these upgrades are based on the club's real-life performance in the above events, with the prerequisites being:

  • Wins upgrade: At least two of the next three group stage games are won by the player's side.

  • Qualification boost: The player's team advances to the Knockout Stage.

Win upgrades will be updated weekly (the first ones will go live on October 21st), while qualification upgrades will commence on Friday, November 4th, once all group matches in the European tournaments have ended.

How to upgrade Road to the Knockouts (RTTK) items in FIFA 23 FUT?

RTTK components are essentially connected to team performance in the group stages of the Champions League and Europa League. Because RTTK item upgrades have nothing to do with individual form, stealing a player from a favorite team is always preferable. EA Sports revealed on their official website that the Win Upgrades will be updated once a week.

The players are not required to play the games or be chosen. However, if the player is removed from the team's roster, they will not gain any additional enhancements.

Will RTTK cards continue to be upgraded after the Group stages?

No, RTTK cards will not be improved once the Group Stages conclude, as EA has consistently stated.

The developer verified in a FAQ on their official website that "Items from the Road to the Knockout are only eligible for the two potential Group Stage upgrades and receive no upgrades during the Knockout Stages. However, RTTK is only the beginning; future UEFA competition campaigns will allow you to enjoy the Knockout Stages of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Europa Conference League in Ultimate Team."

FAQs

Q. Can RTTK still get upgraded after the Group stages are over?

A. No, the RTTK cards and items won’t be upgraded after the Group Stages are over.

Q. How many upgrades can Road to Knockout cards get?

A. Road to the Knockout cards can be upgraded twice. RTTKs are live items that can be updated based on the results of the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League group stages. They were first introduced in FIFA 22.
