As detailed in the X post embedded above, developer FromSoftware has added five new hairstyles for Elden Ring with its version 1.12 update. This is a free patch and can be accessed by players owning a copy of the game on the following platforms:
- PC (Steam)
- PC (Microsoft Store)
- Xbox One
- Xbox Series X/S
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation 5
It should be kept in mind that these hairstyles do not require a purchase of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and are available for free. They are unlocked automatically as soon as the version 1.12 update is downloaded and installed in the base game.
How to equip the Elden Ring new hairstyles
It is possible to equip your Elden Ring character with new hairstyles either during character creation or by visiting the Roundtable Hold past a certain point in the game’s progression.
Use new hairstyles using the Character Creation menu
This is the easiest method to swap hairstyles in Elden Ring. The Character Creation menu is available as soon as you begin a fresh save and presents players with a plethora of options to choose from.
In the Detailed Appearance > Alter Face & Hair > Hair section, you can find a total of 37 presets to choose from, including the five new hairstyles.
Once you select your desired option, save your changes and exit the editor to begin the game.
Changing hairstyles using the Clouded Mirror Stand
Thankfully, FromSoftware has given players the ability to swap between hairstyles at any point in the game. Doing so requires access to the Roundtable, which is unlocked shortly after you speak with Melina for the first time.
Once you are at the Roundtable, head to the room containing the Dressing Table. Interact with it to change your appearance at will.
Finally, it is also possible to swap hairstyles after you defeat Rennala, Queen of Raya Lucaria Academy. This won't need you to consume additional resources, much like the Roundtable’s Dressing Table.
