Killing 500 Dust Sprites is a requirement to complete the Monster Eradication Goal and unlock The Burglar’s Ring. When this item is equipped, it allows you to obtain double the amount of loot from every slain monster, making it a highly valuable item for resource farming in the game.
These creatures are also one of the best sources for gathering coal as they have a 50% chance of dropping one upon defeat. Coal is one of the basic resources you need to craft Bombs, Cherry Bombs, and Explosive Ammo. So, having a large stock of them is recommended if you’re planning to take on tougher enemies.
How to farm Dust Sprites?
Dust Sprites are small spherical creatures found between Floors 41 and 79 of the Mines. On entering a floor with these creatures, they will quickly target you.
Simply time your weapon swing when they’re airborne to make defeating them much easier. While their number can be a challenge for new players, they are generally quite manageable if you use a wide-ranged sword weapon and corner small groups against a wall.
Since enemy spawn resets once you exit the dungeon, you can start farming Sprites from Floor 41 to 79 of the Mines, return to the entrance once you reach Floor 79, and redo the whole process for farming them infinitely.
To increase your chances of encountering these monsters, equip the Monster Musk. This item doubles your chances of finding Sprites for 10 minutes. If you’ve already obtained Burglar’s Ring, equip it to maximize your chance of obtaining loot dropped by each of them.
Best weapons to farm Dust Sprites
All of the Infinity weapons and foraged weapons are great for dealing with these monsters but if you’re looking to optimize your farming run, here are some other weapon recommendations:
- Dark Sword: Has a 9% chance of gaining 9%-10% of the monster’s health after killing it. This can come in very handy for survival in the Mines while farming.
- Lava Katana: Adds a +3 to defense and weight stat that adds more defense and increases knockback against enemies.
- Obsidian Edge: The sword offers +10 crit power and a good range for dealing with hordes of enemies.
- Bone Sword: This sword also comes with decent range and can take down multiple Sprites with one or two hits.
Farming Dust sprites in Stardew Valley can be a worthwhile investment as coal and Burglar’s Ring are quite useful items in the game. So take a sword, head into the Mines, and start hunting some Sprites to reward yourself with valuable in-game items.
