Spectre Divide is the latest sensation in the tactical FPS (First Person Shooter) genre. The game's unique concept of dual lives has made it a memorable one for many players in the online multiplayer scene. With the game being free-to-play, players continue to gravitate toward Mountaintop Studio's tactical shooter each day.

Like most online multiplayer FPS games, Spectre Divide also allows its players to create a party. This feature allows them to play with their friends. However, recently, players have been facing an issue with the online services in the game where they have been unable to create a party. This article will focus on the steps required to fix the Online Services error in Spectre Divide.


The steps to fix Online Services error in Spectre Divide

The Online Services error can be caused due to multiple reasons. Hence, the ways to fix it will also vary accordingly.

By disabling VPNs and Proxies

There have been reports of VPNs causing issues while connecting to the game. If a player has a VPN running in the background, then they should disconnect from it and disable it.

If the players have the NordVPN Threat Protection Pro, then they can:

  1. Open NordVPN and go to the Threat Protection Pro setting menu
  2. Uncheck "URL Trimmer"

Windows Defender Firewall Exception

Players need to make sure the Windows Defender Firewall has the correct exceptions for Spectre Divide:

  1. Open the control panel
  2. Go to System and security
  3. Go to Windows Defender Firewall
  4. Click on "Advanced settings" on the left panel
  5. Click on "Inbound Rules" on the top left and sort by "Name"
  6. Click "New Rules" on the top right
  7. Select "Program" and Click "Next"
  8. Click "Browse" next to "This program path" and make your way to your game executable. Click next. This can be easily located by right-clicking Spectre in the player's Steam library, and going to "Manage" to "Browse Local Files"
  9. Click "Allow the connection" checkboxes for Public, Private, and Domain. Click Next and name it "Spectre"

For Third-Party Anti-Virus and Firewalls

There are certain times when a Third-Party Anti-Virus/firewall can block the game's connection. In these situations, players may consider adding an exception to their third-party firewall if they have one.

For Avira security software on your system, some players have mentioned that turning off Avira's Security Web Protection resolves this issue. Other third-party software may have similar settings, as well.

For Campus/Restricted Networks

Some players may have the error when they are connecting from a campus/school or other restricted network. This means that the network administrator has settings to block/allow certain connection types.

If the error still persists even after following all the above steps, the developers have also encouraged the players to submit a ticket. This can be done on the game's official website's Player Support section.
