Zenless Zone Zero players must farm skill chips to level up their various characters' skills. The game has five different types of skill chips, reflecting the five attributes. They are also available in three different rarities and you will need certain amounts of each to upgrade your skills to the maximum level 12.

In Zenless Zone Zero, upgrading the skills of your characters is integral to maximizing their potential. Each skill starts at level 1, and this can be raised up to level 12 using chips and dennies. These skill chips are available in the basic, advanced, and specialized rarities, and you will need the following amounts of them for each level:
Furthermore, there are five types of skill chips, each reflecting the various character attributes in ZZZ. Here is a list of all the types alongside the agents you will need them for:
- Shock chips (Electric): Anby, Anton, Grace, Rina
- Physical chip (Physical): Billy Kid, Nekomata, Corin, Piper
- Freeze chips (Ice): Ellen Joe, Lycaon, Soukaku
- Ether chips (Ether): Nicole, Zhu Yuan
- Burn chips (Fire): Ben, Koleda, Soldier 11, Lucy

How to obtain skill chips in Zenless Zone Zero
Skill chips can be obtained by participating in Combat Simulation, which gets unlocked after completing Chapter 1: Cat's Lost and Found. Players can access it from the VR device at HIA or the training tab in the Compendium.
After starting the VR device, go to the Agent Skills section, and start the challenge. Here, you can participate in one of the five following challenges, based on the attribute of the character they want to upgrade:
- Current Test (Electric characters)
- Rigidity Test (Physical characters)
- Ice Test (Ice)
- Resonance Test (Ether)
- Heating Test (Fire)
Before undertaking any of the above tests, you can customize the enemy lineup to your preference. Additionally, it will cost you anything between 20-100 Battery Charges based on the selected lineup.
